Chinese construction suppliers are using homes received against unpaid bills to repay their own creditors, sometimes before taking legal ownership, as the property downturn strains payments across the industry, recent company disclosures show.
Unpaid bills in China’s property sector are forcing construction suppliers to act as “debt relays,” accepting unsold homes from developers and passing them down the supply chain to pay their own creditors caixinglobal.com/2026-10-26/…

The firm, Citigroup Securities (China) Company Limited, will become the seventh wholly foreign-owned securities firm approved to operate in China, following J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Standard Chartered, BNP Paribas, UBS, and Mizuho.
China's securities regulator on Friday approved Citigroup's plan to establish a wholly-owned securities company in the country, the latest step in the country's broader push to open the financial sector wider to foreign institutions. The approval allows the U.S. firm to offer capital markets services in China, including equities brokerage, securities investment advisory, securities underwriting and proprietary securities trading, the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) said in a statement. The firm, Citigroup Securities (China) Company Limited, will become the seventh wholly foreign-owned securities firm approved to operate in China, following J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Standard Chartered, BNP Paribas, UBS, and Mizuho. The approval came amid China's sustained push to open its financial sector. Since 2020, the CSRC has removed foreign ownership caps on securities firms, fund managers and futures companies, enabling foreign institutions to operate wholly-owned licensed entities.

55 E. Jackson Blvd. Chicago, Illinois is up for sale after the lender that sought to foreclose on it decided abandoning the building was smarter than seizing it. 452,186 SF entirely vacant except for ground floor retail leases with Potbelly and Starbucks. Bids are expected just below $25 per square foot, or roughly $11M. Leasehold interest sold for $64M in 2019. "Ready Capital and Marc Realty terminated the ground lease to help prepare the building for a sale, according to CBRE. Proceeds from a sale would be placed in escrow, and parties involved in the property will be able to file claims for that money through the court, according to CoStar News." The city filed a lawsuit against the building's owner over building code violations in an effort to stabilize the structure. In response to the city's legal action, a Cook County judge appointed CNR Advisors to serve as the receiver for the property. CNR Advisors authorized the sale and hired CBRE brokers to put the property on the market. -Crain's Chicago / CoStar #CommercialRealEstate

An Airbus A320neo rolled off the Mobile, Alabama, factory line in July 2022, painted bright yellow for its destination: Spirit Airlines. But this May, less than four years later, it was stripped for parts worth millions and crushed, the steel teeth of an excavator tearing through its fuselage at a facility on the outskirts of Phoenix. Bill Thompson, VP at EirTrade Aviation said the company paid “single-digit” millions each for that airplane and a similarly aged one, and it expects to make a profit from selling the more than 1,000 parts it took off them before they were crushed. #Aviation cnbc.com/2026/10/24/spirit-a…
