Even after being badly injured, he refused to leave the battlefield. He continued to lead his men and fought until the very end. His bravery earned him the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour for gallantry. Today, his name lives on through Joginder Island in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, named in his honour.
