America is not a Christian nation. It was never founded as one. That doesn't stop 45% of Americans from saying we *should be* a Christian nation. This election is our chance to show up loudly for secular democracy. Vote Nov. 3 or sooner. ffrf.us/vote

Our rights don't come from your god or anyone else's. They’re protected by a secular Constitution, not granted by a supernatural being. If rights came from God, they’d depend on whose god you believe in. That’s precisely why separating religion and government matters.
Tulsi Gabbard: “Our rights and freedoms do not come from government. They come from God. And God alone.” @TulsiGabbard

There’s a third option: Reject this insane religious fearmongering and live a free life without worrying about imaginary threats of eternal torture.
Your only two options: - Follow Jesus - Burn in hell

The White House belongs to Americans of every religion and no religion. If they want to turn it into a megachurch, the least they could do is start paying property taxes.
This never gets old. Prayer and worship at the @WhiteHouse right now.

Christian nationalism in a nutshell: political loyalty as a test of religious legitimacy.
If you call yourself a Christian and find yourself voting for democrats, you should stop calling yourself a Christian.

After decades of sexual abuse scandals, Catholic leaders still seem more concerned with punishing those who reject their authority than holding abusers accountable. A damning indictment of an institution that claims to be a moral authority.
Scott Peyton's son was abused by a priest. Despite being a deacon, Peyton left the Catholic Church to worship elsewhere... so the Church excommunicated him. The priest? He's still technically a priest in the Church's eyes. Read that again. friendlyatheist.com/p/cathol…

Only five false claims in a minute? David Barton would be disappointed. Those are rookie numbers.
In the span of one minute, Christian nationalist pastor Rob McCoy managed to make at least five demonstrably false claims about the Founding Fathers and the creation of the Constitution. peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch…

This is how authoritarianism gets wrapped in religion. When a politician is seen as doing God’s work, questioning him becomes questioning God. That’s a dangerous mindset in a democracy. No leader is divinely appointed or above accountability.
"Trump is a Godly man. He’s working for God. He really cares about us. He cares about what happens to us. He didn’t come in there because he wanted money. He is actually working for God...and God is on his side." - Trump supporter on President Trump.

Children need love, stability, security and support. None of those things requires two biological parents. Plenty of single parents, adoptive parents and same-sex couples raise wonderful kids. The obsession with one “biblical” family model ignores what actually matters.
People don't Understand how important the biological two-parent family is to kids & then therefore society. Because if that breaks down, the biological two-parent family, all sorts of crime & social problems arise.

They’re not even pretending this is about religious freedom anymore. They’re openly discussing plans to seize political power and impose their religious ideology on everyone else. When Christian nationalists tell us what they intend to do, we should believe them.
Racist white nationalist pastor Joel Webbon says his upcoming conference will begin the process of laying out "battle plans" for "Christian nationalists on the right to be able to seize power": "This is here to stay. And it's not if we win, it's when we win" peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch…

Religious freedom should never be a shield for child abuse or medical neglect. When faith conflicts with a child’s right to live, protecting the child must come first. No religious belief should ever override that responsibility.
Elizabeth Struhs needed insulin to stay alive. Her parents withheld it and prayed instead. Now a Queensland inquest is examining whether government officials and health care workers could have prevented her death. friendlyatheist.com/p/elizab…

Religious organizations shouldn’t get a free pass when it comes to government oversight. If faith-based groups are exploiting vulnerable workers, they should face the same scrutiny and accountability as anyone else. Religious freedom is not a license to break the law.
After years of being stonewalled in their FOIA requests, @AmericanAtheist is suing U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. They want information about oversight of faith-based groups who say they bring in workers on R-1 religious worker visas. atheists.org/news/litigation…

Radical Islam is dangerous, but its presence in the U.S. is relatively small. Christian nationalism, meanwhile, has substantial political influence and seeks to enshrine religious beliefs into law. One is a fringe movement here. The other has a seat at the table of power.

OUR Religion? WE don't have a religion. The Constitution protects everyone’s right to practice their religion, change their religion, or reject religion altogether.
Trump: Americans are going to stand up and declare that we will preserve our religion.

The most dangerous thing about blind faith is that it can convince otherwise decent people to commit unimaginable atrocities while believing they’re doing God’s will. There is no belief so sacred that it should be beyond questioning.
