I had a fruitful and constructive meeting with my colleague, Secretary of State Marco Rubio @SecRubio in Washington D.C. 🇫🇮🇺🇸 We exchanged views on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the ongoing efforts to achieve peace. The Finnish position is clear: we need pressure on Russia‘s war machine and support for Ukraine including its air defence to shield civilian lives. Finland and the US have an excellent relationship. Over the past years, our economic ties have strengthened rapidly, particularly in the fields of industrial products, connectivity, space technologies, quantum, artificial intelligence and several other fields of cutting-edge digital technology. We look forward to fortifying this momentum and today - the signing of our two documents - marks an important milestone. The Critical Minerals Framework and the Technology Prosperity Deal will deepen mutually beneficial trade, economic and technological cooperation between our countries, and strengthen our position in the world.

Today, we continue our cooperation with Finland – and very substantively. We are working comprehensively with the Government of Finland – with Prime Minister @PetteriOrpo. Thank you for this cooperation and for this level of relations between our countries. We have a new support package for Ukraine from Finland – and, in addition, agreements that expand our opportunities for cooperation. Seven documents have been signed – the total value of today's agreements is €300 million. We agreed to make greater use of Finland's satellite capabilities – this is important for our defense and Ukraine's resilience. We reached agreements on this with Nokia and ICEYE. Thank you for your readiness to support our logistics and energy sector – these are Russia's key targets right now. And having more locomotives, more energy equipment, and more funding to protect energy infrastructure will really help.

Spoke with @ZelenskyyUa. Three key elements urgent: air defence, energy installations and financial assistance. Finland announced its 35th support package yesterday. Air defence as key component. We are doing everything we can to protect Ukrainian civilians.

Finland and Ukraine take their defence cooperation to the next level Today, we signed a drone deal with @ZelenskyyUa. The agreement enables, among other things, the joint production of defence materiel. Defence sector companies in Finland are ready, and the joint effort can now get fully under way. Ukraine needs all our support in its fight. At the same time, the cooperation is mutually beneficial. By learning from Ukraine’s experience, we are strengthening our own capabilities.
