Peter Lynch quit his career at 46. He was at the top. At Fidelity, he had grown the Magellan Fund from about $18 million to about $14 billion. Over 13 years the fund returned about 29% a year. He was not tired of stocks. He was tired of missing his life. He worked six or seven days a week, often 12 or 13 hours a day, and visited hundreds of companies a year. He had three young daughters. His father had died of cancer at 46, when Peter was ten. When Lynch hit the same age, the math of a life suddenly felt short. He said he wanted the next 21 years to be different from the last 21. At the age of 46, Boston magazine put his wealth at around $25 million. He is 82 now. His current wealth is estimated at around $500 million. He and his family have also given away a huge sum of around $200 million through the Lynch Foundation, into education, health, culture, and Catholic causes. What has he done after quitting his career 36 years ago? He never ran outside money again. He stayed at Fidelity as vice chairman, a few days a week, teaching younger analysts. He wrote more, spoke now and then, and spent much of his time with family, giving, helping charities manage their money, and living a private life. He still invests his own money. He does not publish a scorecard. He once said he has completely stopped calculating his returns. He no longer cares. That is the rare part. Most achievers leave when the edge is gone. Lynch left while he still had it.

Hey @Bajaj_Finance received another call from what seemed like a fraud offering a loan "on your behalf". Just thought you should know in case someone is misusing your respected name to dupe people. If genuine, you may want to contact them for a random loan in case you're in need.

I received an invite from the Ministry of Finance, and I thought it was spam. I looked into the email after 15 mins It said, "Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) of India wants to talk with you" I still couldn't get it There was a landline number mentioned in the email. I called up and asked if this was a conference or something I was being invited to. They said the CEA wants to talk personally and hear the story. And could I come to Delhi. I said yes. He also wanted all the economists in his office to be part of it. This is the team that puts together the Economic Survey and the country's economic policies every year. I flew to Delhi and met the CEA and his team. I shared my journey into deep-tech, drone policies and Indian manufacturing, in the context of my previous drone startup Airdonex and my current startup @ProcurioIndia They listened carefully to every challenge we have run into, and were genuinely interested in what founders need from policy. We concluded with explaining what we are building at PROCURIO, that we are on a mission to set a new benchmark for how anyone can source and manufacture from India.

They forgot ₹3 lakh on a bus. What happened next restored their faith in people. A couple travelling to Hyderabad accidentally left their bag of cash on a TGSRTC bus after getting down at Afzalgunj. They realised their mistake only after reaching Nampally and rushed back, hoping against hope that the money was still there. It was. TGSRTC conductor Sarita had spotted the unattended bag and immediately alerted driver Narasimhulu. Together, they kept the ₹3 lakh safely aside. When the couple returned, every rupee was handed back to them. #TGSRTC #Hyderabad #Telangana #GoodNews #Inspiring [TGSRTC conductor, Hyderabad, Good news] Credits : @jsuryareddy

The best tweet I've ever read.
A relative of ours used to be a very bubbly woman. Everyone enjoyed talking with her. She had four brothers. She was the only girl in the family. Her brothers used to pamper her and shower a lot of love and affection on her. Life’s ways are strange. All four brothers died within about 18 months. Before she could recover from one loss, the next one hit just as hard. The blows did not stop, and they collapsed her. She has been under severe depression. She no longer speaks to anyone. She keeps lying down, often without even switching on the lights. She eats very poorly. She keeps crying. As Charlie Munger often said, life gives terrible blows, horrible blows, and unfair blows. He also said that some people recover from such blows and others do not. He said we need to avoid self pity and accept life’s randomness. Without that, coming out of grief is almost impossible.

At 43, Shivani Mehrotra proved that it’s never too late to chase a dream. 🇮🇳🏔️ A mother to an 18-year-old daughter and a resident of Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, Shivani began her mountaineering journey at 36. Despite family responsibilities and without support from a major sponsor, she took on one of her toughest challenges yet. Using her family’s savings and backed by their unwavering support, she climbed Mount Elbrus, Europe’s highest peak, and unfurled the Indian tricolour on Independence Day. Through freezing temperatures, exhaustion and a demanding ascent, one thought kept her moving: “Don’t stop. Keep moving forward.” Her journey is more than a mountaineering achievement. It is a reminder that dreams don’t have an expiry date—and that with determination, family support and courage, it’s possible to create a new chapter at any age. Shivani’s story proves that sometimes, all you need is the courage to take that first step. ❤️ Credits : the.mountain.diva on IG #WomenWhoInspire #Mountaineering #InspiringStories #IndiaStories #GoodNews [Shivani Mehrotra, Mount Elbrus, Indian Woman Mountaineer, Women Empowerment, Inspiring Journey]

The DS adopts all upcoming talent from India as soon as possible. Then they coach them, promote them in India, and turn them against India when needed. Send them campaigning as this activist or that. To derail development or destabilize the govt. This boy too will one day be sitting in protests. Why? Because India has no system in place to recognize, reward, and cultivate such enterprising and talented. Govt doesn't care, corporates don't sponsor, local orgs see them as some competition with a crab mentality. I know this for a fact. Some popular patriotic influencer got approached by orgs and companies outside India to promote their stuff. They spotted their great influence and wanted to use them to influence Indians. But not a single Indian company or anyone from the govt even acknowledged their work, forget using them. This is how most of India's talent is wasted to outside India.

This is incredibly inspiring. So many in govt believed that work and service meant everything. While politicians that hv the real power bring values of unkept promises, shortcuts and noise. Well done #PaulKurian. Thank you for your service 🙏🏻🫡
#Watch | A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) driver bid an emotional farewell to his bus after completing his final trip ahead of retirement. Paul Kurian, a driver attached to the KSRTC Kumily depot in Idukki, completed his last duty on September 2. After parking the bus at the end of his shift, he kissed the steering wheel and saluted the vehicle before walking away. The video, shared by KSRTC officials, has drawn widespread attention, with many appreciating his dedication to the profession. Video: Special arrangement thehindu.com/news/national/k…

Don't travel overseas. Save your money and gift it to the govt so that the ministers can travel.
PM HAS A REQUEST FOR INDIAN CITIZENS 1. Embrace the mantra of 'Swadeshi' and 'Vocal for Local.' 2. Avoid traveling abroad merely for leisure 3. Instead of hosting weddings in foreign lands go for 'Weddings in India.' 4. Refrain from buying gold unless absolutely necessary. THIS ISN'T IMPORT SUBSTITUTION, PROTECTIONISM, ECONOMIC AUTARKY OF THE 70s. THAT WAS COERCIVE. This is advice to build STRATEGIC ECONOMIC RESILIENCE

If the call is to travel within India, Assam has the answer. I support Adarniya Pradhan Mantri Shri @narendramodi ji’s appeal to choose India over foreign destinations. And I would invite you to discover Assam. From the wild landscapes of Kaziranga and the islands of Majuli to the Brahmaputra, lush tea gardens and vibrant cultural traditions, Assam offers experiences that make you ask, why look abroad? This is the spirit of #WedInIndia and #VocalForLocal. @PMOIndia @incredibleindia

What do you do when you witness a death that should never have happened? For Gulshan Bhatia, 62, the answer wasn’t just anger. It wasn’t a complaint. And it wasn’t waiting for someone else to act. He started fixing the roads himself. After seeing a little girl lose her life when the scooter she was travelling on with her mother hit a pothole, something changed in him. For the last 11 years, Gulshan has spent 2–5 hours a day filling potholes and making dangerous stretches more visible across Amritsar. About 3,500 potholes later, he is still at it. He has also bought around 500 bundles of reflective tape for cycles, tractor-trolleys, roundabouts and even cattle, spending an estimated ₹5–6 lakh of his own money along the way. He calls it daswand: setting aside a part of what he earns for a social cause. People have offered him money. He has refused. For Gulshan, the real reward is something far simpler: A person reaching home safely because he chose not to look away. #RoadSafety #Amritsar #EverydayHeroes #GoodSamaritan #InspiringIndia [Gulshan Bhatia, Amritsar, pothole repair, road safety, social service]

A 47-year-old woman from Maharashtra’s Beed district ran barefoot in a marathon and secured first place, with the prize money set to help fund her daughters’ education. Ramabai Ranveer, a resident of Ambajogai, works as a cook at an academy in the town. She was left with the responsibility of raising her two daughters after her husband died in an accident in Mumbai. Despite financial difficulties, she was determined to ensure that both daughters received a good education. #Maharashtra #Beed #WomenInSports #InspiringStory #Education

The latest take since nothing else now works about Arsenal is a sigh and a grudging ‘they win, but this isn’t football’. Errr… let’s see now: - Highest def line by far n 60+% possession - full backs so inverted that it may as well be a yoga class - FBs so high that they may as well be paying rent in oppn boxes - Villa at home didn’t get a shot on target - only 6 shots faced at 1.5xG in three games - no set piece goals (as yet 😇) So what is football? Games like the NBA All-Star weekend where the defence is on a deckchair? Feel sorry for engagement farmers nicking a living on social media n now hanging on by a thread cause the Arsenal performances aren’t helping pay rent The worst are the truly grotesque Agbonlahor n Patrice Evra. Btw u can actually be a decent player in ur day and as well be a prize caricature jackass in your retirement Both scenarios can co-exist 🤣

Do you know about Uma's story. She has received the Star Diamond Award from Zomato in 2020. This award is given because in the last few years, she hasn't canceled even a single order nor delayed any delivery. Her husband passed away 10 years ago. So she had to work even when she is sick.  She wakes up at 5 in the morning and drops her son off at cricket coaching 15 kilometers away on a bike. After that, she finishes all the household chores and start delivering food from 12 noon to 11 in the night. She does 18 to 25 deliveries every day, meaning she rides her bike more than 200 kilometers daily. She only gets to sleep for a mere 5 hours. Survival of the fittest and hard working
