For fifty eight years, my boss in Tokyo believed that beef should be sliced as thin as paper.
In Japan, we cook thin meat for four seconds in boiling broth. That is our way.
Then last month, the YouTube algorithm showed Director Sato a video of a man in Texas smoking a brisket.
It changed his life.
On Monday morning, he called me to his desk. His eyes were bloodshot.
"Have you seen this?" he whispered, turning his monitor toward me. "The American pitmaster does not sleep for sixteen hours. He sits by the fire in the dark. He guards the meat like a castle."
I said, "Sir, it is just a barbecue."
He slammed his hand on the desk.
"This is not cooking," he said. "This is a vigil."
Last Saturday was our annual company picnic by the river in Kanagawa. Normally, we grill thin meat and yakisoba for two hours and go home at 2:00 PM.
I arrived at 9:30 AM to help set up.
Director Sato was already there.
I want to be accurate here: he had been sitting in a folding chair since 10:00 PM on Friday night. He was wearing a towel around his head and staring at a massive black barrel smoker he had imported from Oklahoma.
Inside I said: THIS MAN HAS ABANDONED CORPORATE LIFE FOR THE SMOKE.
When we tried to help him, he held up a pair of metal tongs and clicked them twice.
"Step back," he said calmly. "The stall has begun. Nobody opens the lid."
Twelve Japanese accountants stood in complete silence around a barrel for four more hours. Nobody dared to eat a single noodle until he gave the signal.
At 1:45 PM, he sliced the meat. It fell apart on the cutting board.
My boss looked at the pink smoke ring, nodded once, and wiped a single tear from his cheek.
He has already submitted an official budget request for a trailer smoker for next fiscal year.

I think what makes these fake Apple Pay scam/prank situations so emotionally volatile is that they combine several nightmare scenarios for the victim into one attack.
For starters, you're getting robbed in public. This is embarrassing, especially for a man.
Second, you're on camera unexpectedly for a large audience. This should be illegal. It's not, but it should be.
Third, you're being played for a fool because you don't really know how the technology of Apple Pay / contactless payments works, and someone is exploiting you over it.
So we end up with a scenario where some random guy--in this case, a middle-aged man stocking the frozen pizzas--is getting robbed, humiliated, and made to look foolish by what is likely a teenage mulatto who's exploiting a type of "I'm not touching you" loophole in the social contract, where the pizza guy would go to jail for a long time if he punched the scammer because ultimately the prankster (a) hasn't stolen anything, and (b) hasn't laid a finger on the victim.
It creates a real 'naked in front of the whole class' simulation where over 7 billion people will have permanent access to an episode of "This is what the pizza guy would look like if someone were robbing him using a technology he's too old to understand. See, look how mad he is over the IDEA of losing $10! Look how stupid he is! They didn't even take any money!"
This is a worst-case scenario for the victim. Most people are not designed for this. Complete public humiliation, absolute demoralization, no rightful recourse in the eyes of the law, no way to take back what has been stolen from you because no money was actually taken; only your dignity and sense of self-worth.
This is what happens to actual Americans in 2026 who still try to live by following the rules, working hard, and sticking to the script. They get publicly humiliated by 90 IQ mystery meat ethnics exploiting them for content to earn shitcoins with which to gamble on prediction websites.

To be clear, I have not formally declared for any office, let alone the presidency.
But yes, you can in fact win the presidency at 34 years old.

EXCLUSIVE statement from a War Department official:
“Army Lieutenant General Brett Sylvia, who was part of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was fired by Secretary Hegseth for severe misconduct.
Although Sylvia’s title was director of the Directorate for Strategy, Plans, and Policy at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, known inside the military as the J5, he was not a central planner for the Iran War, which is the responsibility of CENTCOM and its commander Admiral Cooper.
Sylvia is the subject of an investigation for leaking classified information about the Iran War, the war between Russia and Ukraine, and more. Due to the Pentagon’s media policy requiring journalists to have escorts in the building, Sylvia began meeting with journalists outside of the Pentagon in order to leak classified information.
Sylvia failed three polygraphs which questioned him about leaking classified information. The investigation into him remains ongoing and has been referred to the Department of Justice for further action. The extent of his leaking became so critical that Secretary Hegseth took immediate action and fired Sylvia in order to protect national security. Urgent action was needed and could not wait another second.”
