I'm in a quandary. I can't vote ANC and still respect myself as rational. I can't vote DA and still regard myself as sane. I can't vote for any party and still regard myself as discerning. I can't abstain & still regard myself as engaged. It's a mess.🙆🏿‍♀️

His name is Max Phakamile Mankazana, a son of Erma and Walter Mankazana from Soweto. This man is my dad. I look just like him; I only took my mother's complexion. My dad was always there for us until the day he was shot eight times by a man who lived directly opposite our home. And guess what? Today, that very man is one of the MKP councillor candidates in one of the branches in Zola, under the City of Johannesburg, by the name of Derrick Dlamini. My dad was a provider and a police officer by profession. He provided for his family until he was taken away from us by people who felt entitled to his life. He was robbed from his six children and wife. 💔 This stole a part of me that really means the world to me. But today, he wants to lead an entire community under his banner. Whenever I think about it, I get so angry. But the woman who raised me, my mother, Cynthia Mankazana, taught me how to pray and forgive. Still, I cannot understand how the man accused of taking my father's life can now want to lead an entire community. 💔 Zilwele Nthangase, Msotho 😭

As a black person, I am honestly tired of seeing/hearing other black people say things like, “I hate blacks who support the DA,” “The DA is a white party,” or “Only stupid blacks vote for the DA.” Who gave you the authority to decide how another black person should think or vote? Are we not free to make our own political choices? Being black does not mean I must subscribe to a particular political ideology or blindly support a political party because of its historical association with black people. I refuse to have my intelligence questioned simply because I see political value in a party you dislike. We fought for democracy, not for the right to exchange one form of political intolerance for another. You don't own black people's votes, and you certainly don't own their minds. Stop confusing political loyalty with black consciousness. I am just as black as you, even when my cross is next to the DA. Vote @Our_DA
