Back in 2021-2022 at Hugging Face, most of the AI work I did with banks was classic NLP. Now a lot of it is agentic.
The first question hasn’t changed: where does the model run, and who can see the data? Wrote about it with @huggingface
The AI question in financial services has moved from which model to use to where that model is allowed to run.
New post with @TangriKunal and @huggingface on why firms want to run models on their own infrastructure, and how governance gets them approved to run there.

In finance where sending data to an API is not an option, open models are the only option.
We're working with @TangriKunal at @farsight_ai to make this work within banks:
- Hugging Face Enterprise Plus solves open model governance at the network level
- Farsight solves open model availability at the application level
We wrote this post to explain how this works: huggingface.co/blog/Farsight…

Even the most regulated industries are going open-source 🤗

Most banks access AI through a small number of hosted model providers. That means someone else sets the price, the capacity, and the product roadmap.
Today we're announcing our partnership with @OrnnExchange so banks can run Farsight in their own environment, on GPU capacity sourced through Ornn and priced with data from the Ornn Compute Price Index (OCPI).
Banks get AI that runs in their own environment instead of a hosted provider's, keeps sensitive client and deal data inside the institution, and produces pitch books, memos and models in the firm's house style.
When people talk about running AI inside a bank, the conversation usually starts with what model. In practice, the first real decision is how to secure the compute to run it - @Farsight_AI's partnership with @OrnnExchange now makes this simple.
Ornn is the leader in financial markets for compute. With our partnership, banks can now source capacity through Ornn and run Farsight's model-agnostic solutions directly through it - all in their own environments on-premise. This brings the full stack to the firm, from the infrastructure to the work product that their teams rely on.

Off-the-shelf AI solutions don’t solve the needs of the biggest institutions because they don't understand their standards and way of doing things.
That is why @DeutscheBank is now running @farsight_ai on-premise across IB and capital markets in Europe and the Americas.
To be able to deliver things in the way they would’ve done them by hand (actually), there are a lot of things an AI system has to understand: it needs access to the right internal materials, it needs to account for different team standards, and it needs to make it easy for people to review and refine what the system produces.
To enable this access, most financial institutions require you to be inside the bank's own technology environment. DB is one of many that we are helping enable this level of ROI with on-premise AI.
We are all very excited! Links to our blog post discussing it and other coverage in the thread.
Replying to @DeutscheBank
@DeutscheBank has deployed Farsight on-premise across Investment Banking and Capital Markets teams in Europe and the Americas.
For regulated firms, moving AI into specialized workflows depends on access to data, much of which is sensitive.
"Farsight gives our teams a way to apply AI to their own workflows and materials while operating within Deutsche Bank's technology environment. That combination of control and customization is critical to making AI work in a global, regulated enterprise like Deutsche Bank."
