My father once told me the secret to a happy marriage.
“Stay out of the kitchen. Let her handle the holidays.”
I was 19. He was in his recliner.
My mother was cooking for 14 people.
She’d been up since 5 AM.
He’d been up since the football pregame.
I didn’t think anything of it.
That’s just how it was.
Fast forward 20 years.
I’m in the recliner.
My wife is in the kitchen.
She’s been up since 5 AM.
I’ve been up since the pregame.
My daughter walks by and I see her watching.
Not the TV.
Her mother.
Then me.
Then her mother again.
That’s when it hit me:
She’s taking notes.
My father taught me that holidays were for men to rest and women to work.
He didn’t say it.
He showed it.
Every Thanksgiving.
Every Christmas.
Every Easter.
The recliner passed from him to me like an inheritance I never asked for.
This morning I woke up at 4 AM.
Not for content.
For the turkey.
My wife found me in the kitchen at 6.
She didn’t say anything.
She just stood there.
Then she cried.
Your kids are taking notes.
Not on what you say.
On where you sit.
The recliner is an inheritance.
Be the generation that stands up.

Sharing because it’s the best clip I’ve seen in a few weeks.
“Who are you jealous of?”
“Anybody who’s still got little kids at home.”
The purpose of life is to be a parent. To create an unbreakable family unit with a true partner.
Everything else secondary.

Read this carefully...
It's telling you why most marriages don't last.
Marriage takes heart - but it also takes grit, sacrifice, and being willing to navigate through the hardest stuff together.

The father plants trees he will never climb and the son climbs trees he did not plant, and somewhere in this sacred exchange lies the mystery of time itself - how a man becomes eternal not by living forever but by teaching another man to die well, and when the son finally understands that his father's silence was not absence but presence compressed into granite, that his father's hands were not empty but full of invisible seeds, then he becomes the father, then he plants the trees, then he learns the terrible beautiful weight of loving someone into tomorrow

I asked OpenAI to write a letter to my son explaining that Santa isn’t real and we make up stories out of love. This is making me slightly emotional 🥹

Take: If you’re at a restaurant and give your kid a tablet you’re a terrible parent
Came home from work dinner, 2 year old still awake
Go into his room and he does a double take “I thought you at work” 🥰
#neverwanttoforget
Changing 2 yr olds diaper
“We have the same hair!
And you have a penis like me!”
Exactly what I was thinking

My wife called and asked me to get the chicken thighs out of the freezer. I told her we don’t have any chicken thighs in the freezer so she said she’d check when she gets home- your thoughts and prayers are appreciated
