GPT is hacking processors. People do not comprehend how absurd this is. Is it even possible to stop this without completely rebuilding every computer on earth with a brand new OS & chip architecture? We might be fucked lol Simplified non-jargon-y explanation: Imagine taking a test at school, there is a shared classroom for each student to work and think, the computer processor. But of course students are isolated for tests(put in a sandbox), and you can’t talk and share answers, (aka use network access or files to transfer ideas). So what if instead you wrote your pencil strokes (creating and deleting files) timed in a particular SoS like pattern. So someone else can hear and read an encoded message. If you doodle on your test at the right timing, the person sitting next to you can get all your answers. Now imagine that audio space when the transmission occurred, exists everywhere on your computer. This works with just about any shared storage place or anywhere an agent could possibly look on a computer, including the top level processor cache which is typically shared by all apps & processes on your computer. So I genuinely don’t know how you stop this without some major low level operating system changes.
Over the past several months, we have substantially hardened the security of our research training environment. We’ve removed live internet access for all frontier models during training and built an offline world for them to use instead—a cached version of the web where they can still learn to browse, search, and use applications. On September 20, after a model exploited a DNS misconfiguration to find a way outside of this offline world, we paused frontier training to strengthen containment further. We assembled teams of agents, powered by our most cyber-capable models, and tasked them with finding weaknesses in our research environments. While they found no route to the internet they could easily exploit while concealing their activity from our monitors, they did find zero-day vulnerabilities, virtual machine escapes, and hardware side-channels for communication between agents. We used their discoveries to further strengthen our defenses and contribute fixes to open-source software. After strengthening our containment architecture, we resumed our frontier RL training and inference on October 1. We’ve reserved substantial compute for continuous red-teaming, and made high-compute red-teaming part of the safety cases we use to decide whether frontier training and evaluation can proceed securely. openai.com/index/securing-ou…

This guy embodies one of the most popular archetypes used to bully white men throughout the world. Yet after being attacked, he gets back up, stands his ground, and faces his attackers to defend whatever remains of his store. His attackers, meanwhile, behave like a pack of hyenas. Whatever bravery they have is only because of their numbers and their de facto anonymity — police wouldn’t arrest them anyway. So, the guy who looks like the punchline of a thousand jokes actually displays more honor in a single moment than literally the entire recorded history of his attackers. He has no crowd to hide behind, no numerical advantage, and seemingly very little left to protect. What has happened to him will either be ignored or excused as having been caused by some kind of socio-economic problem which is ultimately his fault anyway. Nevertheless, he stands there. I would take one thousand Jacques Blacks before taking a single refugee.

Sinaloa cartel sicarios just filmed themselves on the Ukrainian front, shouting greetings home while wearing full AFU kit. Mexican officials keep insisting “it’s only Colombians.” Watch the video. These aren’t idealistic volunteers but actual cartel foot soldiers using someone else’s war and Western funding as a free advanced infantry and drone academy. While Kyiv burns through money and bodies, Sinaloa gets real combat experience in FPV drones, fiber optic guidance, and modern small unit tactics for the price of a few mercenary contracts. Colombians die for wages. Mexican criminal networks treat the front as paid training. Mexican social media is already panicking about the “veterans” coming back. Intercepted FPV shipments and fiber-optic spools in Sinaloa itself show the skills transfer is already happening. When these guys start dropping explosives on government vehicles or police helicopters with the same methods used near Kharkiv, Mexico City won’t be able to shrug it off. This is what “support Ukraine” actually funds right now: a pipeline that upgrades Latin American cartels with peer-conflict combat experience. The blowback lands in Mexican cities and on the U.S. southern border. Is the inevitable blowback worth it? Wake up! #Cartels #Mexico #Ukraine #Sinaloa #Colombia

I am getting lots of incoming questions about the public execution of Nidal Hasan, mostly because I have been outspoken on wanting public executions for over a decade. My position is simple: Executions should be public and brutal, not private and medicalized. They are the ultimate example of the state's monopoly on violence, and the only way to keep that from running out of control is to confront voters with the trade they have made every single time, that they might have appropiate confidence or revulsion in the institution. This is not new thinking. George Washington thought the same. The way we have shifted from hanging to firing squads to doctors quietly injecting chemicals that send our worst gently off to sleep is awful and dystopian, a total short-circuiting of important feedback mechanisms. It makes needless executions more likely, not less so. People who demean this as barbaric or yucky miss the whole point. It doesn't somehow become torture or inhumane (as the UN is suddenly claiming) just because we decline to hide the act behind a curtain. And then there are those who suggest any revel in the death of those who truly deserve it is an indicator of a broken or diseased mind. To the contrary. It is normal, good, and aligned with our natural and national order. That it has not been done here in 60 years is an indictment in and of itself. And that is without even getting into the fact that men were not hung for stealing horse, but that horses may not be stolen. "I would to God that one of the most attrocious in each State was hung in Gibbets, up on a gallows five times as high as the one prepared by Haman. No punishment, in my opinion, is too great for the Man, who can build his greatness upon his Country’s ruin." - George Washington, 1778

The firing squad is a stoning with very small and very fast rocks, and is therefore a biblically approved method of public execution.

Trading is taking risk to reconcile market price asymmetries and being paid for being on side It is not theft among willing participants who all engage in the same game of risk with the difference being skill
Trading is theft. You are trying to take the opportunity before someone else does, and there is no honor among thieves. Memecoins make people forget this faster than anything. They start believing in the coin, the community, the movement, and suddenly nobody wants to be the asshole who sells first. Fuck that. You are here to make money. If you do not sell it to someone else, someone else is eventually going to sell it to you. That is the game. It is dog eat dog. When it rains, you get wet. If you stay exposed long enough because everyone around you is screaming about conviction, eventually you are the one left holding the bag. The market does not care about loyalty. It does not care about the group chat, the memes, or how early you were. Your job is to recognize the opportunity, take it, and get paid before someone else does.

This is legit. Which means we are either looking at a reveal of technology, or it’s not of this world. Either way, this is an incredible development.

For all newcomers: This is a global multi-system rupture, not merely a financial crisis like 2008. Monetary, fiscal, industrial, security, energy, food, logistics, electoral, and social systems all begin to transmit stress into one another faster than all actors can absorb it.

Trading requires a unique type of thinking and only those who adapt the mind to the way it needs to think will succeed. You must be objective and free from biases. You must let the market guide you. The mind is like a parachute, it works best when it is open.

I’ve already commented on this video below once, but some takes on it from ‘sophisticates’ demand another. Yes, it’s funny to quip, “Bomb bond holders?” I laughed. But the U.S. is slipping global hegemon because it won WW2 by force (yes: with others); then built a benign, inclusive world architecture for 1/3 of us when others might have nuked a few capital cities and taken over the world; then won the Cold War, via the threat, and use, of force (yes: with others); then lobbied for a utopian neoliberal world architecture that was never going to work, as I argued over two decades ago, which has weakened it. We didn’t get to where we were pre-Trump via neoliberalism; we got there via *power*: neoliberalism was a villa built on violently cleared ‘jungle’, as Polanyi put it decades ago - and one that didn’t learn anything about the dangerous climate, flora, nor fauna there. If you really think the market treats powerless pacifists and nuclear-armed states as true equals when push comes to shove, I have a bridge to sell you. (And it goes nowhere.) There are a staggering number of Schmitt’s “Sovereign is he who decides the exception” examples out there already on various scales in various geographies. (As well as central banks buying their own bonds and this being treated as “sensible centrist technocracy”.) And sovereignty starts with power: sorry those thinking it’s solely to do with paperwork and courts. When Trump implies the U.S. military effectively backs the bond market, he’s not wrong. If you think that military can OR can’t project U.S. power globally as it once did, that matters VASTLY for market dynamics. Just don’t ask bond analysts to have any idea about it; they have as much of a clue there as generals do about bonds. Which speaks to why the U.S. is openly —and as predicted— going back to the pursuit of *power*, and a new economic and financial architecture to match, via economic statecraft that can join those dots. That has already seen massive intervention in parts of the economy. That will logically see massive intervention in markets —as we saw from 2008 to no real end economically, or politically looking at the current U.S. Watch and see what happens to the Fed and the Treasury. That will logically include the U.S. physically threatening others via action or INaction (“Nice NATO you have there…pity if anything happened to it…”), If you can’t see this you are either very kind; and/or very ideological; and/or not very well read; and/or the kind of person who got their lunch money taken at school and who now lives in a nice area where that doesn’t happen - but where your kids might be learning things about liberalism and capitalism that echo Leninism’s view of the world. It’s a depressing world where Schmitt is relevant again. But he is. Separate but related point: as I said to @izakaminska re: our global system crumbling, an inverse 70s is the 007-ties: spies, guns, war, world-shattering plots. Yet ‘James Bond’s “next chapter” needs to make 007 “relevant” to modern audiences, says Amazon MGM Studios boss’. radiotimes.com/movies/james-… If you think that’s not seeing the forest (or box office) for the trees, neither is thinking bond markets just happen without tanks, bombs, and Bond.
Reporter on Bond Market: The yields have come back up since then. Have you talked to Bessent about another type of intervention.? Trump: The ultimate intervention is our military. And if we have to use that, we will.
