We got your back, New York!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Several figures here arenβt federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan β May 2026).

Well, this is it ~
I finished my last Offenburg - Strasbourg service with the old diesel trains. Parked them for the very last time. Now I have two days off and Sunday Iβll do my next Strasbourg service, but then with the RΓ©giolis. By then the RS 1 will be gone, they will be in use for two more days and then they go out of service after 28 years of service, way longer than they were supposed to be in service.
It still hurts a bit, I liked driving them and I have been driving them for 11 years, they were part of my daily routine, I was driving these trains the most in my whole career and now theyβll be gone ^^ Unfortunately they were not designed or made for what they have been used for in the end. They just couldnβt provide the standards and needs that are required today and often especially not the capacity needed on the route they were used on in the end. Of course passengers will celebrate once theyβre finally gone and of course Iβm also very happy that we finally get more modern trains with more capacity on this route. But I will still miss the RS 1, itβs been so many good and crazy memories with these trains in the past 11 years and they rarely let me down, these trains were actually very reliable and rarely failed, issues were usually easy to fix and they were super simple built and easy to operate.
So yeah, so long RS 1, whatever future awaits you and although youβre still in use for two more days: I will say goodbye and I salute you π«‘ Thanks for 28 years of service which I was able to be part of for 11 years.
