I would like to be able to see my son go into school each morning without a mask on, so that I can once again see his smile as he waves goodbye, and so that I can once again know he can see the faces of his friends and teachers.
It saddnes me that I even have to say this.

I am speechless.

OK letโs imagine that! $500M would fund Medicare for exactly 4 hours. Hospital closed by lunch.
Medicare costs us $1.2T a year. Thats $2.7B per day. You people literally have no clue how anything works. You elect people who are financially illiterate, and everything gets worse.

Exactly!
When I grew up in Communist China, I was surrounded by completely brainwashed people, including myself.
Now in the US, Iโm surrounded by people even more brainwashed than the communists I grew up with in China.
Communism thrives on a dumbed-down population. And the dumbing down is systematically carried out through schools, the media, and Hollywood!
When I grew up in the USSR, I was surrounded by people who were completely brainwashed.
Now, when I live in the US, Iโm surrounded by people who are even more brainwashed than communists I grew up with in the USSR.
Itโs insane.

This is immoral and anyone applauding Carney isn't thinking. We have Canadians of Russian descent living here. These are kids playing a sport.

Fair enough. That makes the guyโs blissful (willful ?) ignorance of Liberal party malfeasance in Canada all the more shocking.

Enjoy your victory lap, Andrew. I was wrong, and I have no problem admitting it. And since gloating over this outcome is likely one of the few sources of joy in your insular, Trump-obsessed life, I donโt begrudge you the indulgence.
With the losses of Paxton, Husted, Collins and Graham, together with the Texas gubernatorial result, there can be little argument that it was a blue wave.

๐จWhat happens if Trump loses the House and Senate?
Clinton & Obama already set precedent.
They weren't done at all in their last 2 years.
Victor Davis Hanson explains:
Clinton fell to 37% approval but left office at about 66%. In between, he was impeached but not convicted and bombed Serbia for 78 days without Congress.
Obama's approval fell to 38% and still left office near 60%. He bombed Libya in 2011 without Congress, ran hundreds of drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia, and started bombing ISIS in Iraq and Syria in 2014 without a new vote. He said "I've got a pen and I've got a phone," and skipped the Senate on the Iran deal and Paris.
Low approval and a hostile Congress didn't finish them. For both, it was the best thing that ever happened to them in some ways.

Donโt worry the terrorists and 33,000 foreign nationals flagged for immigration removal, including 624 convicted of serious crimes can stay though.
Canada will get tough on young athletes. That should work.
Canada will deny entry to any Russian and Belarusian athletes and staff, as long as the war in Ukraine continues, as per Mark Carney
"If you're asking specifically about the World Junior's the Russians will not be there"
This is despite the Court of Arbitration for Sport saying Russia should be allowed to participate in IIHF tournaments, with the next big tournament the WJC in Alberta this Christmas #cdnpoli

Outstanding post.
I've always liked you, Matt, but as a Korean, in a country where China's influence runs deep, I find this point very disturbing.
โPointless war"? Follow the oil.
China buys more than 80% of Iran's shipped oil.
That's 1.38 million barrels a day in 2025, per Kpler.
Nearly every barrel Tehran sells under sanctions goes to Beijing.
Add Venezuela.
More than half of its oil exports went to China too.
Together, Iran and Venezuela supplied about 15-17% of China's crude imports.
Much of it was cheap, sanctioned oil, relabeled "Malaysian" to hide where it came from.
Now Greenland.
China controls about 60% of the world's rare earth mining and over 90% of the processing.
Those minerals go into missiles, fighter jets, EVs and chips. Greenland sits on the Arctic shipping routes Beijing calls the "Polar Silk Road."
So what connects Iran, Venezuela and Greenland?
They're three pillars of China's cheap energy and supply chain. Cut them and you raise the cost of Beijing's military buildup without firing a shot at China.
That is America First.
China is the only rival big enough to replace the U.S.
Letting it fuel up on discount oil from America's enemies is not "restraint."
It's surrender on the installment plan.
Gas prices hurt.
I get it.
But if Beijing runs the world's energy and minerals, groceries won't be the worst thing you can't afford.
Think one move ahead.

"9. If I was whomever is in charge of Iran at the moment, Iโd be looking at properties in the Cayman Islands."
Heh.
Ten Random Election Night Thoughts:
1. Democrats in power is good business for conservative media and podcasters. Take that for what it is worth.
2. Half of Americans have an IQ of 100 or less.
3. Why is a midterm loss for the Presidential incumbentโs party so common? Are people really that shortsighted and devoid of animating principles? And I mean this in a non-partisan way. Who votes for Obama in 2008 and then helps the GOP win in 2010? Who votes for Trump in 2024 and then helps the Dems win in 2026? Are Americans really that stupidly fickle?
4. Why canโt every state count its votes in a few hours like Florida?
5. Democrat voters are like locusts. They ravage one state, escape that state to a good and decent state, and then turn their new state into the same hellhole they just left. Donโt believe me? Ask Colorado. Now, Texas, apparently.
6. Thune is happy right now.
7. The silver lining is that the Dems are going to accomplish nothing in the next two years other than to run endless, silly investigations and impeachments, which will make them look impotent and weak headed into 2028.
8. Trump is about to be unleashed. He has no midterms to worry about and he probably could care less about the campaign of the 2028 GOP nominee, JD or otherwise. โUnitary executiveโ is about to take on a new meaning.
9. If I was whomever is in charge of Iran at the moment, Iโd be looking at properties in the Cayman Islands.
10. The legacy media still has more power than most conservatives are willing to acknowledge.
