A wild snow leopard walked straight up to two kids. She could barely stand. In her mouth, a tiny cub. She laid him gently at the little girl's feet. She was giving him away. Then she turned, climbed the rocks, and never came back. The kids carried him home. Grandpa said only a mother could save him now. Their dog Bura had just had puppies. Would she accept a snow leopard as her own baby? She sniffed him once... then pulled him close. One mother. Three babies. He drank milk with the puppies. He played with the puppies. He slept curled up next to his new mom. He grew up thinking he was a dog. By autumn, he was running with his brothers. By winter, sleeping by his mother's side. Then spring came. And the mountains called him. Bura walked him to the rocks and let him go. 2 years later, Bura was old. Too old to fight the wolves circling the kids. But she wasn't alone. Out of nowhere, a full-grown snow leopard leapt in front of her — and chased the wolves away. He never forgot who raised him. She saved him once. Now he saved her.
