Just launched our website for the @BSHSNews annual conference in Aberystwyth. It was so much fun doing it bilingual! I'm trying to get the social media posts in Cymraeg, too, but my language skills are more limited than Adobe's trials. Check out, anyway! conference.bshs.org.uk/

I’m not one for getting teary but I was really moved by @MuseumofOxford’s beautifully executed dual language allotment display. Not only was it an excellent example of best practice it also echoed exactly what I found researching allotments - they are inclusive spaces and yet quietly so.
They routinely have a greater diversity of people and plants than the cities that surround them without making a big deal about it at all.
Or as one old boy said ‘we just rub along together’.

The UK Home Office has *denied a visa* to the six year old daughter of a Kenyan academic expert working at Bristol University.
This appalling cruel decision must be reversed.
End the hostile environment!

“African nationals applying for a visitor’s visa – which scientists need to attend research conferences in the UK – were three to four times more likely to be rejected than applicants in east Asia”
Shame on the Home Office
Shameful, devastating, racist. @DoselineKiguru is a brilliant and much-valued colleague - what she and her daughter have been put through is evil theguardian.com/uk-news/2023…
