I have had to explain this to so many homeowners.
Please don't paint brick. If you want to change the color you can lime wash it but don't paint it. Brick is a porous material used in wall assemblies that contemplate it being porous. Painting it will lead to sheathing rot, spall, subflorescence, and crumbling mortar.

The hope-core you need this morning
The regime wants you to believe you have no future so you won't bother trying to build one. They want you childless, landless, and compliant. The greatest act of counter-cultural rebellion available to a young man today is simple: Marry a faithful woman young. Have children. Master an essential trade or business. Buy the ground beneath your boots. Teach your sons to fear God and love their heritage. Out-work them, out-build them, and out-populate them. That is how you conquer the dark.

If I had this while I was a field engineer on commercial jobs, I would have been called a nerd but this would have been so useful.

Check the water line on your fridge every couple months. Coming in after a flipper on a “renovated” kitchen may be worse than just coming into an old house

Just spent a 45 minute drive triaging my to do list with Grok Bot and migrating project based items into Jobtread instead of Notion. Didn’t realize I could just yap. Will change how I keep track of everything for sure.

Facebook groups are absolutely bottom of the barrel F tier dog shit leads. Why would I put a price in a flooded comment section where I have 0 ability to differentiate myself - right next to someone that’s going to do the job illegally ?

This is what $200 buys you these days as a EPA certified lead based paint contractor. Bet half these are broken inside.

This guy is CRUSHING commercial cleaning in a small market. Great follow. Might even spin up a cleaning company myself in my “spare time”.
Signed up a weekly commercial client 2 weeks ago. He's been so impressed that he had us quote his wife's PT facility. We now clean both back to back starting Friday. Love this business. #cleaning #cleaningbusiness

Do not lose hope of this once again being the norm. This is our home. There's no where else to go. Do whatever you can in the areas that you have responsibility and power to influence people and markets to fight and pursue this vision.

On big jobs, small mistakes won’t kill you. Even multiple stacked on each other. About to finish a job this week. Small job: floor tile, vanity, drywall repairs, paint. Should be an easy single at 30% margin Nope: shorted my labor budget by a couple hundred bucks, one extra dump run I didn’t factor, and more material/time than expected. Will be lucky to make 20%, might even be in the teens. On a big jobs, losing a couple hundred bucks would barely move the needle, but on a small job it’ll be close to half my profit.

People will look at a bathroom and go… “Man, the vanity was only $1,000. Tile was maybe a $1500. Fixtures were another couple grand. How the hell is this a $25,000-$30,000 bathroom?” Well… because you ain’t buying a vanity and some tile. You’re buying the whole job. Demo. Trash. Plumbing. Electrical. Waterproofing. Tile work. Flooring. Drywall. Paint. Trim. Glass. Then all the little stuff nobody thinks about. Runs to get missing parts. Deliveries. Dump fees. Protecting the house. Scheduling everybody. Fixing whatever we find once we open the walls up. Making sure everything’s done right and lasts a long time. Being finished in a timely manner. Trust that when it’s done, you know without a doubt it’s done right. And here’s the biggest thing… You’re paying somebody to own the job. When something goes sideways, somebody’s gotta answer the phone and fix it. That’s where a lot of the money is. Materials are only one piece of a remodel. You’re paying to get from this… to finished… and have somebody standing behind it when it’s done.

Anybody deal with 203k limited loans as a contractor? How hard is it to get a change order done?

Somebody talk me out of buying a $3500 hatchback (Golf, Fit, etc). I love my F250 with the 6.7 (no I won’t sell it for a Maverick) but these diesel prices are unsustainable.

Imagine a stay-at-home order with teeth, a $100 ticket mailed to you if a Flock camera takes a picture of your vehicle during certain hours. And that's just the tip of the iceberg of possibilities. If you had the slightest problem with the government's insane overreach during the Covid era, just imagine how much easier enforcement would have been if they had had this technology. This is the wettest of all wet dreams for the powers that be, and Americans are just rolling over and letting it happen.
Flock cameras will not be used to stop crime They will be used against enemies of the regime
