President Zelensky, today on Piers Morgan, discussing the White House becoming a proxy for the Putin regime Piers Morgan: Do you feel betrayed? Zelensky: Yes. It's a pity that we are losing a strong partner. Piers Morgan: You think you're losing America? Zelensky: Yeah, but not because of us. We can't be weak. We're not selling our country. Look, guys, it's not about business for us. It's our lives. It's our country, our home, our children. Zelensky: If you're in the middle, you have to stay in the middle, not on the wrong side. I think Trump's advisers are wrong. I don't know who is pushing him to the wrong side. This is not the right side of history.

Just so you understand the scale of betrayal: first, our "partners" didn't warn Ukraine about the incoming ballistic missiles, so the air raid alert wasn't activated before impact, robbing people of their chance to survive. Then, Starlink was restricted to stop working at speeds above 100 mph. This renders useless, first and foremost, our interceptor drones. It doesn't limit our ability to attack inside Russia, it limits our ability to stop another apartment building or school full of civilians from being hit. Wow, just wow.

For those at the back who weren't paying attention: It's not just about the first couple of weeks of an infection It's about the problems it causes that you don't even see until three or six or twelve or sixty months or two hundred months after the infection.

“Single fault at Thames Water works could imperil London’s supply.” So decrepit has Thames Water’s leaky London infrastructure become that contingency plans have being drawn up involving “Mass evacuations, with the military on standby”, I sh*t you not. ft.com/content/97e41a5c-4cf2…

At ~2am this morning, I was on the phone to a cardiology registrar. They gave expert advice about some lifesaving interventions. That expertise is invaluable. It’s certainly not worth 21% less than it once was. A good deal can be done to restore value, if govt wanted to do it.
“We’re asking to get round the table to talk about a realistic, sustainable and credible offer that works for doctors and also, crucially, works for patients.” Our chair @fletchjack speaks to @TimesRadio this morning

Oh this. This is being a GP
I have obtained the patient’s permission to share his story below… I’ve chosen to post it now, years later, as I feel it highlights the danger of taskification of medicine & how detrimental it can be for patients Some details changed for further anonymity 🧵 1/n

People understand if their hairdresser, nail technician, dentist or dog groomer hasn’t got capacity to see them that day. GPs don’t have endless capacity, and we can’t build any more with the inadequate funding we have been given. That’s the reality.
General practice in Northern Ireland is in crisis. GPs are now taking collective action - we need an improved offer from the government that increases our core funding to avert a total crisis #GPsAreOnYourSide

I’ve reported 18 wars over 35 years. I’ve been shot at, kidnapped, threatened, nearly raped. I’ve lost friends from Sarajevo to Syria. I thought I’d seen the worst of humanity. I was wrong. Nothing compares to Gaza — or the complicity letting it happen. #GazaGenocide #WarCrimes

A colleague of mine, an ID physician, dropped by today to say goodbye. He is leaving medicine. I asked him, half jokingly, 'you don't want to help people anymore?'. His answer was serious: 'I learned during the pandemic that people don't want to be helped.'

The notion that your mindset or lifestyle is in some way to blame for your physical illness is just victim blaming.

Sitting here on a sunny Saturday clearing my lab results. But unlike most GPs, I don't mind. As a private GP, my time is being remunerated appropriately, all the tests were requested by me, and I know all my patients well enough to be able to interpret the results easily. – at Formby, England

At my latest stop in USA I’ve been working with a lovely world renowned surgeon who took a kind interest in my life & work, we spoke a lot I explained it’s been a challenge to get where I am now inc a financial one I asked & he told me his PAs salary which is 10 TIMES my salary
Surgical rota hours are family unfriendly making it incredibly difficult for parents to finish training ‘Oh just get a nanny’ 😶

A Category 3 Major Hurricane, a Tropical Storm, and a tsunami are all ongoing near Hawaii at the same time. Safe to say this is an INSANE concentration of natural phenomenon in a single region.

A few months working in Australia. I have worked in two different states so far in Oz and I’m earning more in a WEEK than I used to earn in a whole month in England, my birth country, the place where I trained to be a Registered Nurse, the place that doesn’t value me or my skills. #Nursing #InternationalNurse
