I want to profusely thank all the lovers of Lagos, all of whom have refused to major on the minor. Thank you for the outpouring of love and support. Your encouragement gives me the energy, courage and faith to keep believing that, one day, our country will be great. As usual, the APC has resorted to its familiar strategy of distraction. Its loudest voices are not talking about the impact of their government on the people of Lagos. They are not telling Lagosians how they have made their lives better. They are not talking about the state of our roads, the worsening flooding, the housing crisis, the lack of reliable public water, the traffic crisis or the growing filth across our city. Instead, they want us to major on the minor. They did the same thing in 2023. And despite all their claims, they still resorted to thuggery, intimidation and violence to force their way into office. It was state-sanctioned terrorism using the same culture of thuggery that remains one of the biggest problems confronting ordinary Lagosians today. Why won’t the APC confront this problem? Because they depend on the same thugs and the same culture of political violence to force their way into power. When a political party knows that it cannot win the confidence of the people on the strength of its record, it becomes dependent on intimidation and coercion. Our roads are worse. Flooding has become a bigger problem. Rents have continued to rise, while affordable housing remains grossly inadequate. They have effectively given up on solving the traffic crisis. Now, instead of admitting failure and fixing the problem, they tell us that traffic is a “lifestyle.” There is no reliable supply of public water. And in many parts of Lagos, the city is as dirty as it was under Governor Tinubu. Under Governor Fashola, Lagos was operating more than 1,000 PSP trucks. After more than 12 years, you would expect the system to have expanded significantly. Instead, we are now down to roughly 200 trucks. Why? Because the problem is not simply a lack of trucks. It is a system that has been weakened by corruption, poor management and alleged racketeering around diesel, truck leasing and waste collection. That is why Lagos stinks. And this is the point I want Lagosians to focus on: we must stop allowing them to change the subject. The question is not who can shout the loudest. The question is, after all these years in power, have they made Lagos better for the ordinary Lagosian? That is the conversation we should be having. That is the conversation they want us to avoid. And that is exactly the conversation we must continue to have. Let's make Eko Great Again

Dear Lagosians, This is my promise to you. I will never in any language tell you to live in your parents house as an answer to the expensive rents and housing deficit. Instead we will work tirelessly to deliver a 100,000 units of housing that are not only accessible but truly affordable. Enact laws that protect tenants and create an agency to investigate and enforce said laws. I will never in any language tell you that Traffic is a lifestyle. Instead we will deliver the entire rail network in 2years by opening the project to private sector procurement. Our focus will not be how to pad or steal money it would be on making movement in lagos more effective and affordable. I will never in any language tell you that we do not know or understand how much waste is being generated in Lagos state, neither will we tell you to go back to you village when you complain about the state of the enviroment . We will rid the waste management system of the corruption and racketeering that has left lagos covered in filth. We will create a waste to energy and waste to wealth value chain. We will build out proper sewage processing facilities and empower local governments to participate in waste management. Lastly under no circumstance will any public official boast about expensive watches whilst so many struggle in poverty. My promise to you is high impact governance, actions you will feel, because Actions speak far louder than words. #ourlagos.

Peter Obi today stopped by a branch of H-Medix Supermarket to pick up a few personal items. Moments like these reflect a leader who remains connected to the everyday realities of ordinary Nigerians, unlike some people who are acting unaware. By experiencing the same markets, prices, and economic conditions as everyone else, he gains a firsthand understanding of the challenges families face daily. That closeness to the people fosters empathy and puts him in a stronger position to address Nigeria’s economic challenges with practical, informed solutions when entrusted with the responsibility of leading the country. He also took out time to interact warmly with members of staff and fellow shoppers. A reminder that leadership is ultimately about staying connected to the people you serve. #NigeriaWillBeOk

I watched with disappointment the recent interview granted by Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to Channels Television on Monday. After a prolonged absence from public discourse, one would have expected that time away might have sharpened Senator Sheriff’s judgment. Regrettably, that does not appear to be the case. In the interview, the former governor claimed that Peter Obi cannot command sizeable support in Northern Nigeria. It is curious that he has appointed himself spokesperson for the Northern masses. For the record, in his first outing on the presidential ballot, Mr. Obi secured approximately 2.8 million votes in the region — a remarkable achievement that cannot be dismissed lightly. Given the current national hardships, the widespread consensus on the failure of the APC administration, and the addition of a strong Northern figure to the ticket who previously garnered 1.45 million votes in the region, the OK ticket remains a formidable force in Northern politics. Even more surprising was Senator Sheriff’s assertion that the people of Kano would not vote for Mr. Obi. Let me state clearly: the good people of Kano are neither bigoted nor xenophobic. They have consistently demonstrated strong trust in the Kwankwasiyya movement and will support any credible ticket presented under its banner. I respectfully advise Senator Sheriff that, in future national television appearances, he would do better to speak to the serious insecurity and humanitarian challenges facing his home state, rather than making divisive and poorly considered remarks. The OK ticket currently represents the best opportunity for Nigerians to reset the country and place it on a path of competence, unity, and progress. - RMK

State visits by Leaders are not tourism, and diplomacy is not a fashion parade. Every foreign trip undertaken by a government must deliver measurable benefits to the people, including investments, technology transfer, trade agreements, factory expansion, industrial partnerships, and job creation. During President Trump’s recent visit to China, the American delegation reportedly included a few top government officials, and many of the biggest figures in global business and technology: Consequently, huge trade deals worth several billion dollars including about 200 Boeing orders were achieved. The list of the entourage included 1. Donald J. Trump – President of the United States 2. Marco Rubio – Secretary of State 3. Pete Hegseth – Secretary of Defence 4. Elon Musk – CEO, Tesla & SpaceX 5. Jensen Huang – CEO, Nvidia 6. Tim Cook – CEO, Apple 7. Larry Fink – CEO, BlackRock 8. Stephen Schwarzman – CEO, Blackstone 9. Kelly Ortberg – CEO, Boeing 10. Brian Sikes – CEO, Cargill 11. Jane Fraser – CEO, Citigroup 12. Larry Culp – CEO, General Electric 13. David Solomon – CEO, Goldman Sachs 14. Sanjay Mehrotra – CEO, Micron Technology 15.Cristiano Amon – CEO, Qualcomm 16. Dina P. McCormick – President of Meta 17. Ryan McInerney – CEO, Visa 18. Michael Miebach – President, Mastercard 19. Jim Anderson – CEO, Coherent 20. Jacob Thaysen – CEO, Illumina That is how serious nations approach diplomacy, by aligning foreign policy with economic expansion, industrial growth, innovation, and national productivity. I hope that lessons can be learned from these recent visits comparing them with the President of Nigeria’s recent state visit to the United Kingdom. A large entourage of politicians, aides, and government officials travelled, yet Nigerians are still asking a simple question: what exactly did Nigeria bring home? Which factories are coming to Nigeria? What power, technology, manufacturing, agricultural, or industrial agreements were secured? How many direct jobs will this visit create for Nigerian youths? What investments were attracted? What measurable economic outcomes can the ordinary Nigerian point to? The delegation reportedly included: 1. President Bola Tinubu 2. Senator (Mrs) Tinubu 3.12 governors 4.9 ministers 5.7 members of the National Assembly 6. Over 20 senior State House staff 7. Over 30 security personnel 8. Over 10 domestic staff 9. Several supporters and associates It is not enough to ride horses, wear matching uniforms, attend royal banquets, and release glossy photographs. Symbolism without substance cannot feed hungry citizens. Today, Nigeria is in decline, battling serious insecurity, food insecurity, unemployment, a weakened naira, declining industrial productivity, and worsening poverty. At a time when millions of Nigerians struggle daily to afford food and survive economic hardship, every kobo spent on foreign trips must produce tangible national value: investments, factories, jobs, exports, infrastructure, and economic opportunities. Nigeria needs leadership that is focused less on optics and more on productivity; less on ceremony and more on measurable economic results. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Thursday, May 7, 2026 STATEMENT ON RESIGNATION FROM THE AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC) AND JOINING THE NIGERIA DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC) Most of us are aware of developments concerning the ADC that have collectively resulted in a division of the coalition with some leaders moving to the NDC and some remaining in the ADC. We had hoped that ADC would be the vehicle that would unite the opposition. That is now clearly no longer the case. In these circumstances therefore, we must each individually make a decision as to whether to remain with the ADC or move to the NDC. After due consultation, careful deliberation and prayerful reflection, I have joined the NDC. I am convinced that this is the path that will enable us to deliver the benefits of good governance to those to whom they are due - every citizen, without exception. The battle ahead remains formidable, but I invite you to join us on this exciting, though sometimes turbulent, journey to a brighter future that has been long- promised and that has so far proven elusive, but that is, by the Grace of God, now imminent. Sincerely, Funso Doherty #OTiYa #Itistime
