After a few more hours of flying small airplanes, Iβm convinced that the true measure of airmanship is how quickly and safely you can land at a suitable airport after a passenger says βI need to go to the bathroomβ while at cruise (especially in IMC).

Just taking a bit of a breakβ¦. Iβll be back posting nonsense about flying again eventually! π©π©π©

Spend an hour or so with a trusted CFI who will put you through the paces and keep you safe. Enjoy! π©
Of course, neither of these are low cost - but I think worth it to protect your ears if youβre going to be doing a lot of flying!

If I remember correctly, @Sportys lets you try out a headset for something like 30 days - so that might help find one resolves the problem. IMHO Lightspeed Zulu is the best noise reduction and Bose A20 does the least head squeezing.

Wow - those are some really beautiful pedals!

Those older 172s have more space under the cowling than I rememberβ¦

Very nice! Iβve always liked the baby airliner look of those panels. π

When do you make the post-it?
IFR pilots, whatβs your favorite trick for making sure youβre not scrolling around to double-check the DA/MDA when your attention should be on the CDI and glideslope? @ForeFlight annotations on the plate? Sticky notes on the panel?

Full-scale VOR deflection is 12 degrees, so if you have a CDI with 5 dots (and a little extra room beyond the last dot) you get 2 degrees per dot.
Maybeβ¦ Glass panels (G5 and G1000 at least) seem to have 2 dots in each direction and most analog units have 4 or 5. π€·ββοΈ
I just realized that different CDIs/HSIs have a different number of dots between an on-course indication and a full-scale deflection, so there is no standard βone dot deflectionβ or βtwo dot deflectionβ corresponding to the same distance/angle off course. π€―

Concur with the part about both aircraft flying the same direction.
Whoβs flown a VCOA (Visual Climb Over Airport) departure?
