he gets a lot of shit on here but credit where credit is due: @mattyglesias has been hammering the need for social moderation over and over and basically every successful Senate candidate listened to him

On judicial nominations, massive Democrat takeover of Senate means:
1. Trump will not be able to appoint any justices or judges during his last two years in office (absent one-sided deal in favor of Dems).
2. If a Republican is elected president in 2028, that president will not be able to appoint any justices or judges until Republicans regain the Senate. Given the deep hole, that might not happen until 2033.
3. I'd be extremely surprised if any justice announces resignation now (for end of term) in hope of lame-duck confirmation of successor. Among other things, it's highly doubtful that Rs would have the vote to confirm. If Sherrod Brown wins Ohio seat, he gets sworn into Senate in early December, so Senate becomes 52R-48D. Collins and Murkowski would be unlikely to support anyone Trump would nominate. John Cornyn, Thom Tillis, and Bill Cassidy aren’t going to be eager to do Trump any favors. And there are other senators—e.g., John Curtis of Utah—who would be leery of anyone Trump would be eager to push through.

It's funny, on my feed today I'm not seeing the usual idle chatter about the terminal decline of the United States.

Ben Rhodes remains completely out of touch. No one cares about the war or foreign policy, they care about its domestic effects.
And why should the Democrats be an anti-war party? They should be the party of strong national defense.

The SS Einsatzgruppen shot so many Jewish people in Eastern Europe (at least 1.3+ million) that there are still hundreds of mass graves that have not yet been found.
(Soviets denying permission to search for these graves is also a reason many graves are only found now.)
A matzeivah has been erected over the mass grave of 241 kedoshim murdered by the Nazis in Grodzisk Dolny, near Lizhensk in Poland, more than 80 years after they were buried in an unmarked site.
Descendants used ground-penetrating radar to locate the graves, and kaddish was recited there for the first time since the Holocaust.
