Under the Dr.FOREST project, we studied effects of forest biodiversity on human health during four years with a team of ecologists, psychologists and public health experts. We are now happy to share policy briefs that were crafted in collaboration with @biodiversaplus Links 👇

In the latest NatuurFocus, we present this framework, developed for Aelmoeseneiebos, our research forest with high scientific and ecological value. The goal: inspire scientists & nature managers to adopt similar practices & strengthen dialogue to protect nature during research.

Field experiments in natural areas are crucial to study environmental change but can pose risks to these ecosystems and their species. To minimize impacts, we propose a careful framework in NatuurFocus to balance potential damage against scientific value. 📸 by Haben Blondeel

In addition, we can support these pollinating insects by preserving and increasing flowers and also natural habitats in the landscape!

🐝🌸 Agriculture in Flanders grows multiple crops of which the yield depends on insect pollination. We summarize the research in this region on pollinators & pollination. We found that honeybees & wild pollinators perform this pollination such as bumblebees, solitary bees, etc.

🔬🌳 After 7 years, our PASTFORWARD experiment reveals that understorey communities evolved mainly due to deep canopy shade, with treatments like warming and N-addition exerting only secondary influences. Dense canopies mitigate these impacts. Read more👉doi.org/10.1111/gcb.17443
