Every year, we receive countless applications for pet parents whose female cats are not spayed and need emergency surgery due to pyometra (a life-threatening uterine infection), and for non-neutered male cats that have been injured from fighting with other male cats over territory and female cats. By spaying and neutering, it eliminates these types of preventative medical emergencies and prevents surrenders to shelter due to the cost of urgent and life-saving veterinary care. Saying goodbye to our furry friends is never easy. When that time comes, it is one of the most painful times in a pet parent’s life. 💔 Beau, at 13 years old, had a good, happy, long life, but his body was now failing him. Beau could no longer get up to go outside to use the bathroom; anti-inflammatory medications gave him little to no relief. Beau's mom has had complications from knee surgery and couldn't help Beau get back up on his paws, and life was getting extremely hard for both of them. We helped with the arrangements, and Beau passed over the rainbow bridge peacefully. 🌈 The Emergency Fund helps save lives, but it also provides a compassionate path for families who are facing the impossible decision of letting go when medical treatments are no longer an option.
