That takes it from 63 cents to 68 cents a share a quarter. CDW says the dividend is up sixteen-fold since the 2013 IPO, with 13 straight years of increases.

I arrived in Phnom Penh 15 years ago with around $20,000 💵 Five years later, I was a millionaire. The Chinese boom in Sihanoukville was completely crazy until 2019. 🇨🇳🏗️ Land prices could quadruple in a single year and 50% a year was considered normal. Entire neighborhoods changed almost overnight. I put money into land while the area was still overlooked. New roads appeared. 🛣️ Condos went up everywhere. 🏢 Rooftop bars started replacing old shophouses. 🍸 Sometimes the biggest advantage is simply being there before everyone else realizes what’s happening. Have you ever lived through a real estate boom like that?

Lennox $LII - Makes furnaces/air conditioners - Steady top and bottom line growth - 39% ROIC - Solid balance sheet - Steady share repurchaser - 17 consecutive dividend hikes - Trades for ~13x earnings, lowest valuation in years I love these kinds of companies.

After fridges became a common household appliance, the biggest benefactor was not the manufacturer companies. It was actually Coca-Cola, who took advantage of the new technology to shift from local soda fountains to bottled and canned products Suspect the same will be true for AI. Some of the biggest benefactors will be companies that look very obvious in hindsight, but no one is paying enough attention today

I got interested in investing ~10 years ago as a student and what’s been amazing is how much bigger the numbers have gotten. Like how Meta was a $100 stock, Amazon was worth $300B or so, Netflix was $50B and was still mailing DVDs. In 10 years the “oh this stock trades around $250” might look tiny compared to 2036 levels and valuation. Not calling out any particular company but if you believe in American value creation it’s remarkable what can change in 5-10 years.

Went to dinner with a friend last night We ordered green eggs and ham The bill: $270 I paid with a crisp $500 bill "Keep the change," I said to the servant My dinner companion gasped He knows I usually tip with a crisp $0 bill, especially when the waiter is so gross and sweaty "Trust me," I said, whispering Moments later, a film crew jumped out of the kitchen "You're on Undercover Boss! The waiter is secretly the billionaire owner of the company!" I knew it all along. To thank me for the generous tip, the billionaire multiplied my money using a secret billionaire alchemy trick, giving me a $500,000 bill The billionaire's name? The Cat in the Hat

The economics of a typical car dealership. Note how financing is pretty much all profit, and selling you the car is actually the least lucrative part of the business. Why, unfortunately, the process will always suck for those of us who pay cash.

$7/m² for this sea-view land on Koh Rong in 2018. At the time, there was no road. I walked for an hour through the jungle from Sok San. I didn’t buy it. Around $100/m² now. Roughly 14x in 8 years. Pretty good return to miss.

MarketBeat is a financial media company. Our primary purpose is to get people to click on ads and buy stuff. Few understand this. People keep pitching me their stock analysis algorithms, A.I. tools, etc. that we should add to our website. None of that really stuff matters.

Retiring in Argentina on US$200k. In Patagonia for US$69k you buy a new wooden house in El Hoyo to spend December to March. For the dry, sunny winter, US$57k gets you a log cabin facing the Traslasierra hills in Córdoba. Hike, fish and grow tomatoes on the US$74k left.

MarketBeat has produced about $150 million in net income in the last 20 years. 40% of that has come in the last two years. You just have to let the growth vehicle keep compounding. Kids these days work on a project for 1-3 years and wonder why they’re not rich. Entrepreneurship is hard. It’s supposed to be hard. It’s supposed to take time! The true outlier outcomes usually don’t happen after a couple of years. They usually come after a couple of decades.

How to retire in Argentina on US$1M. In Bariloche for US$415k you buy a three-bedroom house steps from Lake Nahuel Huapi, heated pool included. Winters go to the Uco Valley, where US$280k buys a colonial house with 4 hectares of Malbec. That leaves US$305k to live on.
