This is the most childish argument imaginable at a time when courts are clearly persecuting politicians from only one side of the political spectrum, obviously for political reasons, and when media freedom in practice means that only federalist media outlets are allowed to survive and receive funding.
The hypocrisy is so obvious that it is outrageous for every normal person. And it is precisely the anger provoked by such cynical arguments that will ultimately destroy the very political project you supposedly want to preserve.
So if you genuinely care about the future of the European Union, stop trying to defend it with such empty arguments. Instead, start putting pressure on those who are abusing their power.
When you decided to join the EU, you accepted to abide by commonly-agreed rules:
- judicial independence
- media fredom
If you depart from them, you affect all other member states and therefore must back up.

You can cancel an election and ban the winner from running (Romania), you can ban your opponents from ever running again (Hungary), you can threaten to ban the main opposition party and subject it to relentless investigations by the secret police (Germany), you can threaten a ban on the leading presidential candidate and make them wear an ankle monitor (France), every member of your circle can be investigated for corruption (Spain), you can try and cancel local elections because you will lose them (Britain), and you can storm the constitutional court with riot police because you want to control it (Poland).
You can just do all these things. The secret is you just have to be on the right side of the European Commission.

Incredibly damning testimony from Kristin Knouse in which she is forced confirm that she selectively released and excerpted texts with @DMSabatini to create a false impression about the nature of her relationship with him.
The Whitehead Institute relied on Knouse’s misleading production of texts in its investigation of Sabatini. The investigation and the investigative report were the basis for Sabatini’s dismissal from Whitehead, the elimination of his tenure at @MIT and his loss of funding from HHMI.
I have only one ask of these institutions:
Listen to this testimony and ask yourself why the Whitehead, MIT and HHMI should not be forced to revisit its findings and the resulting actions that resulted.
Institutional character and morality matters. You convicted Sabatini and destroyed him on the basis of false information provided to you.
How can you not revisit the harm that you have caused to David now that the facts are known and been confirmed by a jury of seven women and six men in a three week trial with the benefit of the actual evidence and testimony?
When a man is convicted of a crime that he did not convict based on false testimony, and the courts ultimately reverse the decision based on DNA evidence, he is released from prison and he receives compensation for the damage caused to him by the state.
As far as MIT, Whitehead and HHMI are concerned, David is still in prison. It is time that you release him.

How can @MIT and President Kornbluth sit back and allow Kristin Knouse to remain on the MIT faculty when she has been found by a jury of her peers to have falsely accused him of rape, and intentionally destroyed his life and career with the help of co-conspirators in the MIT administration?

Oregon law prohibits even concealed handgun license holders from carrying on school grounds.

Bend-La Pine Schools, the district that runs Silver Rail, banned carry by concealed handgun license holders on school grounds in December 2021. They were one of the first to do so.
Someone appears to have ignored that today, thank God, and saved lives.
Why is it every time there is a shooting in a state that has done what you asked, the response is to pretend like it's Montana or something?

You also helped make it easier for localities in Oregon to ban armed citizens from legally carrying on school grounds, and based on current reporting, an armed bystander is what stopped the suspect today.

What does matter: being with her every second of her breast cancer appointments. Taking a second job when her health fails and she has to stop work. Sacrificing vacations & hobbies to cover medical bills. Her helping you to the bathroom because your spine is so fucked up you can’t walk. Selling your truck to pay for her ring.
