And @racingblogger track record of making money from the mugs continues. The depressing thing is he just laughs it off and the majority don’t say anything. How anyone can think he does anything for the sport is beyond me, I firmly put him in the list of scamming affiliate tipsters. It’s easy to picture what his response today would’ve been if his ‘picks’ won. How many £1000s would’ve been claimed?

Anyone can take a dataset, find a pattern and make the historic numbers look good. AI is brilliant and backtesting is useful, but neither replaces understanding the market, watching races and actually doing the work. A profitable backtest is the start, not the edge. I’m literally watching people take a dataset someone else has produced, find a historical profitable angle and immediately treat it like a finished system. It’s lazy. Either the standard needs to improve, or people need to start seeing through this stuff.

Just remember when you see all this boom shite from Racing Blogger now, he is a massively unprofitable affiliate tipster who makes his money from losing. Does nothing for the sport other than promote degenerative gambling.

I’m seeing more and more ‘new’ tipsters appearing with an AI-built system and a profitable backtest. Here’s the problem: A profitable backtest does not mean you have a profitable system. Backtesting is the easy bit. Run it live for 6–12 months. Deal with missing data, odds movements, non-runners, rule changes, market liquidity and all the weird edge cases you never knew existed. Then see what’s left. AI is an incredible tool, but I also think it’s making people lazy. You can ask AI to analyse thousands of races in seconds. You can ask it to find patterns. You can even ask it to build a strategy for you. But none of that replaces actually watching races, studying markets, understanding why something might work and then putting your own money behind it long enough to find out whether it really does. Use AI. Use backtesting. Use data. But do the work as well. There are no shortcuts to understanding your edge.

Anyone can post a winning screenshot. I'm much more interested in what happens over hundreds, and thousands, of selections. A bit of context for anyone new to Fortis. My trading journey started years ago after getting fed up with traditional gambling, and having a few accounts closed along the way. I initially went deep into in-play trading. Honestly?
