Football keeps expanding its biggest event because it understands that exposure drives growth. (And £!) Hockey keeps concentrating opportunities among fewer nations, making it harder and harder for smaller nations to catch up. The distance between Pro League teams and everyone else is becoming a structural problem, not a performance problem. This World Cup is showing what happens when more nations are given meaningful opportunities to compete. Smaller footballing nations can now genuinely challenge the traditional powers.

NGB’s job: ‘Make it accessible for every kid to play. Make sure infrastructure and facilities are there. Make sure coaching programmes are of a good quality’

The England men look like they’ve got a really good culture going, evident it’s coming from the coaches , good rolling into the WC. I still think they’re lacking a genuine corner threat that can take some pressure off in the big games & perhaps lacking in ball carriers. But class to see Bandurak scoring for fun! How anyone ever wanted to leave him out is beyond me…!

Why does all the pro league commentary have to be delivered like it’s the first time hockey has been shown. Explaining things like ‘you have to be in the circle to score’, the self pass rule or that there’s ‘4x15 minute quarters’ is just nonsense.

A really interesting read on how FIFA opening up World Cup data is changing football. Hockey desperately needs the same mindset, starting with something as simple as better video sharing. Too much footage is still locked away at the top end of the game. Sharing knowledge doesn’t weaken the game, it grows it. Access drives learning, development and ultimately closes the gap between nations, most importantly it grows the game.

How good is ref cam in the World Cup! A class view, FIFA (the game) ahead of the times by a mile!

No.

Having heard good things from friends at the club, it was my first visit to @OxfordHawks today. Bar the result for our ladies 1s... what a brilliant club and or set up. Genuinely thought it was brilliant 👏

❓What actually improves collective decision-making in your environment ? Repetition, clarity of intention, or something else?

Forward thinking! Open to changes that make the sport better 👍

Coaching thought: Structure does not restrict players. Structure liberates decision-making by aligning intention.
