You're still the only who managed
To glance behind my mask
The one who dared to ask
"What's it like with all that damage?"
& aimed to understand
The pain behind the smile
Of one who'd gladly walk
Countless miles
To know who'd even care what I gave
A stranger in a crowd

The Place Remembers
It was a rhetorical question:

ALT The Place Remembers It was a rhetorical question: "I wonder what this park has seen." But it unravelled a memory of the cinder I've thrived on. It persists in every living cell. Now, soft Zephyrs carry a last whiff of frost as people still think of putting the kettle on after visiting me. They are unaware of the heavy heart graffiti buried beneath my lawn. Runners taking up their training in early Spring are a welcome distraction. But it cannot wipe out the cruentous appendages that will bring forth the next ghastly bloom. © Stefanie Neumann - @KokopelliBFree

If there is no poetry
there is no poetry
still
let's whisper into the void
conmigo
secret detectives
finding words
big lost souls
big lost moments reframing
refining
each breath
an inflection hello goodbye
a sex booze food
holding loving sulking
revolving
again
ghosts alive
for a last time eternal
losing everything
yet love
spirits of sensuality
as angels
monsters
yet all this strangest life.

Brightening my gray skies,
She waltzed into my life,
fueling a love that was cinnamon and clove,
dark, warm and lingering for a long time.
I realized the draw of an empty lap,
inviting me to rest my head,
tempting me to lie there for a while,
till my gray skies turned bright white.
She transformed my hothouse flower,
ill-equipped to handle the darkness,
into a wildflower that can survive anywhere,
no matter the terrain or conditions.
She was the elixir,
who helped me thrive,
She gave me the power to breathe,
when I couldn't breathe on my own.

|| Shape of Unspoken ||
Beneath a scarlet moon,
where autumn undressed the trees
of everything they could no longer keep,
she stood at the forest's edge,
listening.
Not for footsteps.
Not anymore.
The night knew the architecture
of her waiting—
the questions beneath her tongue,
the way her eyes searched the dark
for what the dark
had never promised to return.
Once, she had mistaken absence
for a form of presence.
Believed that silence,
if endured long enough,
might surrender
the words it had withheld.
She had given the shadows his shape,
the wind his voice,
until every rustling leaf
became a message
the universe had never sent.
Perhaps this is what longing does...
teaches the heart to interpret
what was never spoken.
Above her,
the moon bled into the clouds,
and the forest breathed
in shades of jade and teal—
a world suspended
between what was touched
and what was only imagined.
She wondered
whether he had ever known
how much of him she carried.
Then came the harder question—
had carrying him
become a way
of abandoning herself?
No thunder answered.
No branch broke.
Only a soul recognising
the weight of its own devotion.
What is an unfinished love
when the beloved is gone?
A memory?
A possibility?
Or the mind's last refuge
from an unanswered question?
For once,
she let the question remain.
The forest knew what the heart resists...
a tree does not call itself faithless
for releasing a leaf;
the earth does not mourn
every footprint washed away by rain.
Perhaps letting go
was not love's opposite,
but love surrendering
its claim to ownership.
The wind stirred her hair.
A raven disturbed the silence.
And she felt it—
not his return,
but something quieter.
Space.
The kind that opens
when an unanswered question
is finally allowed to remain so.
For years,
she had waited for a shape
to emerge from the darkness,
a hand to bridge the distance,
a voice to give silence meaning.
But the darkness remained dark.
And strangely,
it no longer felt empty.
Dreams still breathed within her.
Tenderness had not died
for having nowhere to go.
And the woman she had been
before loving him
had never truly disappeared.
She had only grown quiet,
beneath everything her heart
had mistaken for destiny.
When she opened her eyes,
the moon was still red.
No footsteps approached.
No forgotten promise returned.
Yet something had shifted.
She no longer needed the night
to restore what it had taken.
She stepped forward.
Fallen leaves answered beneath her feet—
a small music belonging
neither to memory nor desire,
but to the moment.
To her.
And she began to move.
Not to summon him.
Not to prove she had survived.
But because the heart sometimes forgets
what the body remembers...
we existed before we were loved;
we remain when love changes shape;
no absence, however sacred,
can measure an entire life.
The forest listened.
The scarlet moon watched.
And she danced
without waiting for another shadow
to complete her.
Perhaps he would always remain
in the unfinished pages
of her story.
But she was no longer
the space he had left behind.
She was the life
that had continued there.
Beneath a sky
that knew nothing of forever,
the silence between heartbeats
held no question of who might return.
Only the quiet,
unborrowed rhythm
of a woman
belonging to herself.

The air holds a different weight today,
a stillness that stretches before the day comes awake.
The wallpaper skies, once flat and distant,
open now like translucent silk,
where the pixies dance along the soft boundary of light,
their shimmering wings weaving gold through the silent air.
At the edge of the woods, the fairies tread lightly,
touching the moss as if it were spun glass.
I see the trees no longer by bark or leaf,
but by the spaces between them,
where the veil thins
and the old world dissolves into wonder.
I feel the steady draw of an empty lap,
a gentle invitation to sit in the stillness
and unlearn the names of everything known.
The forest breathes at the horizon,
open and infinite,
waiting for me to step across.

There is a beast in me fueling
beneath this blood moon
Allowing the devil's botany
to pull me close
as I savour your soft lips
Let me taste the hunger
that drives
this widkedly sweet
Urge as we feel the earth
Between us
and we soak in
the warmth of home

My mornings wake with you,
My evenings melt in talks so true.
Life keeps on #training me,
yet I turn to you,
A welcome distraction,
my heart's rendezvous.
Every season blooms
when you're in view,
Even apart, all I do is for you.
You are my dream,
my truth too,
In your love,
I'm found anew. 💕
