Here's a piece I wrote on how we Catholics should use AI. I look at both the Vatican & the spirituality of Madonna House, which would be more against using it. frmatthewlc.com/blog/2026/09…
The word "deacon" (diakonos) is just the Greek word for "helper," & can also refer to 1 performing Christian charity.
So, any instance of this word in the New Testament or early Church can mean simply a helper, refer to a charity worker, or speak of an ordained minister.
Replying to @FrMatthewLC
Gotta say, the Roman Catholic Church's insistence and reviling of women deacons, despite there being abundant evidence for them in scripture and the early church, is proof of their theological myopia and backwardness, and shows they care for scripture or tradition.
Happy feast day of St. John Paul II!
When I was looking for models of the priesthood in the seminary, the top 2 I thought of were St. John Paul II & Bl. Fulton J. Sheen who met once, just before Sheen's death.

Today, we remember St. John Paul II with these words he spoke to thousands of young people in Santiago, Chile, in 1987
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is spitting fire in pointing out how unjust the Russian invasion of a neighbor they promised to protect is.
“The Russian military invasion laid bare the hypocrisy of those Russian ecclesiastical figures who claimed to care for the Orthodox faithful in Ukraine. Without a shred of shame, they proclaimed to the entire world their heretical views and theories regarding war. They dubbed it "holy," sought to provide it with a theological and metaphysical foundation, and blessed the fire directed at the Ukrainian people—the very people whom, prior to the invasion, they had called their "brothers."”
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has accused the leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church of the heresy of justifying war.
In an interview with Byron Karydis for Books’ Journal, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew addresses Russian church officials’ stance on the war, criticizing the conflict’s theological justification and support for the military invasion.
“The Russian military invasion laid bare the hypocrisy of those Russian ecclesiastical figures who claimed to care for the Orthodox faithful in Ukraine. Without a shred of shame, they proclaimed to the entire world their heretical views and theories regarding war. They dubbed it "holy," sought to provide it with a theological and metaphysical foundation, and blessed the fire directed at the Ukrainian people—the very people whom, prior to the invasion, they had called their "brothers," while all the while—with a diabolical intent—insisting that they remain under their spiritual tutelage, or rather, subjugated to the ethno-phyletic ideology of the "Russian World."”

A brief reminder: if women “hear the call to priesthood,” they are not hearing this call from God.
God has definitely declared, through Pope St. John Paul II, that nobody can ever have the power to ordain women as true Christian priests.
A new senior Vatican official has reaffirmed her previous push for female deacons, saying that women “hear the call to priesthood”.

Everyone here in Connecticut would point out this is missing Pizza from Connecticut, as we are officially the "Pizza Capital of the U.S."
When God gives us pain, we should recognize it as an opportunity to imitate the Son & be led to the Father.
(Not all pain is given by God in this way.)
It's depressing how common "we buy homes for cash" ads are on daytime TV. These are almost always a horrible deal for the seller.
I've been in the waiting room at the mechanic for an hour & there were too many. I feel bad for anyone who falls for these.
Sports Betting needs to be investigated for scamming men & ruining their financial lives.
(Down 10 this late, it's very hard to win, but field goal > onside kick > Hail Mary is likely the best odds the Jets have.)
The priest "performed a mass"
We need more religious literacy in journalists as @tweetmattingly has repeatedly reminded us.
A priest has been killed by a falling crucifix at a church in Ecuador as he performed a mass that was being live streamed online. cnn.it/4zA49yO
Has anyone used both @AscensionPress's Alto & @MagnificatMag? If so, how would you compare them?
(Please note where 1 is better, not call 1 bad: I think both are good, but each will likely have better areas.)
If you want a daily prayer companion, @AscensionPress's new publication "Alto" has Mass readings, daily saint reflections, Lauds, and Compline.

I'm likely going to vote early this year as I'm busy on election day.
I think I'm just going to write in "Jesus Christ" or "Pobert Prevost (Pope Leo XIV)" for some positions, as neither option seems great, & 1 side has over a 95% chance of winning.
