I use MRI in lower back pain 🤭 I also get asked frequently how I manage the scan follow up consults & handle patient Qs So here is a mini-thread which gives a little comms synopsis - some may nod sagely, others may roll their eyes - that’s cool - no right or wrong.

The extraordinary thing is - the guidelines advocate person-centred care that considers the multi-dimensional complexity of a persons presentation.... yet there almost NO research exploring the clinical reasoning processes that underpin this process. No wonder clinicians get lost

Is the poor effect on pain surprising when we consider that most exercise interventions are grounded in a biomechanical understanding of OA and exercise "prescribed" based on strength & conditioning principles rather than reflect current models of pain? thelancet.com/journals/lanrh…

Fascinating data presented by @MHgglund. Almost 2/3 of calf injuries in professional ⚽️ players are soleus, not gastroc. Ultrasound know to be poor at evaluating soleus injuries. Should we be getting more MRIs on these athletes? @carlespedret will have the answers 🤯

Physical therapy is an integral part of the rehabilitation process after surgery or injury. As the name implies, therapy should be physical in nature, and grounded in active, progressive exercise. Passive modalities are not your friend. Passable downies are even worse. 🤣 #OSSA – at Ottawa, Ontario
