Today we honor our original American founders, owners, builders, and communities. In our 250th year, may we never forget that, but for them, the America we now call home would never exist. #IndigenousPeoplesDay

Lafayette was nineteen years old when he decided to fight for the American Revolution. He had a pregnant wife, a fortune, and a commission in the French Army. He had never been in battle. None of that stopped him. He bought a ship, named it La Victoire, and loaded it with officers ready to sail. Then Louis XVI found out and issued a royal order forbidding him to go. His family wrote. His father-in-law, one of the most powerful men in France, wrote. The pressure from every direction was the same: stand down. He went back to Bordeaux, wrote a careful letter to the king, and interpreted the royal silence as permission. It wasn’t. The local commander threatened to arrest him. Lafayette agreed to report to Marseilles, left under armed escort, and somewhere on the road south he slipped away. Disguised himself as a courier. Rode hard for the coast. Rejoined his ship at the Spanish border. La Victoire sailed April 26, 1777. He was nineteen years old, a fugitive from his own king, crossing the Atlantic with a commission from a country that wasn’t sure it was going to survive. He landed in South Carolina seven weeks later. Froze at Valley Forge. Took a musket ball through the calf at Brandywine and kept rallying the retreat. Went back to France in 1779 and lobbied the same king who tried to arrest him until he committed six thousand troops to the American cause. Came back and held Cornwallis at Yorktown until Washington arrived. None of it happens without April 26, 1777. None of it happens without a nineteen-year-old who bought the ship before he had permission. Readiness is built on the road. Not before you take it. Rule 24 of 76 Rules of Command is live on Substack. Commit before you’re ready. 👇🇺🇸 #AmRev

JFK on the importance of long-term foreign aid: There's no point in throwing a drowning man 20 feet off the beach a 10-foot rope. I am concerned about the waste to our security which will result from too small a program.

“There is no such thing as a left or right. There's only an up or down.” In his 1964 A Time for Choosing speech, Ronald Reagan challenged Americans to consider what was at stake for freedom. 🇺🇸

On this day in 1987, the White House welcomed Mrs. Reagan home from Bethesda Naval Hospital following her radical mastectomy for breast cancer. Rather than keeping her diagnosis private, Mrs. Reagan chose to speak openly about her experience, becoming a powerful voice for early detection and regular screenings. This message remains just as vital today. 💕 #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

Very brave. We see you @IAmSophiaNelson and thank you for what you do to help build the next generation of leaders.
Surviving childhood sexual abuse is unthinkable. The truth is, you never get over it--you learn through painful therapy and hard work to live beyond it. Release yourself of shame or blame, and try to become a good human despite it all. Dr @amyactonoh did all that. She deserves our compassion, admiration, and respect. The Republican Party is vile and clearly hates women. They've crossed every line of decency there ever was. My thoughts @Substack iamsophianelson.substack.com… #OhioGovernor #AmyActon #VivekRamaswamy
