The Lodge of the Nine Sisters was a prominent Parisian Masonic lodge founded in 1776 under the Grand Orient de France.
It was named after the nine Muses of classical mythology - the traditional patrons of the arts and sciences.
The idea is traced to the philosopher Claude-Adrien Helvétius, who envisioned a lodge uniting men of arts, sciences, and letters;
After his death, the astronomer Jérôme de Lalande carried the project forward and became its first Master (Vénérable) in 1776.
The lodge attracted an elite international membership of writers, scientists, artists, and public figures of the Enlightenment. Key figures included:
- Benjamin Franklin, who served as Master from 1779 to 1781 during his diplomatic mission in France (he helped secure French support for the American Revolution).

One of the reasons the Orthodox Church doesn’t use the Masoretic texts is because Judaism changed the Old Testament to discredit Christianity and play into their modern Kabbalistic religion. There’s a reason Freemasonry is majority Protestant; Prots use the Masoretic texts and utilized the Occult from the 1500s onwards.
The Orthodox use the Septuagint (Greek Old Testament).
