Finally getting to read @BarristerSecret over the last few days. This morning I heard adverts on @LBC for volunteering to be a magistrate. Decided I will gracefully decline putting my hat in the ring - not a chance.
The beating heart of a community. A place where experiences and memories were made and perhaps could be made again for young people.
The Alton Youth Club in roehampton has been shut for 12 years @wandbc
but windows are all open for anyone to access and it needs to be bought back to life to create opportunities for youth in our community to thrive. @regenerateuk could do this!

Today, I stood before the Danish parliament on a public hearing on social media & democracy
As a researcher of online hate, I could have spent hours. But I had 10 minutes, so I had to be focused
The title was "The Myths About Social Media"
Here is what I said👇

How does someone who holds high public office not have a grasp of the basics!
Nadine Dorries: Just because Channel 4 is in receipt of public money
Damien Green: Channel 4 is not in receipt of license fee money
Nadine Dorries: And..So..Though its..Yeah and..That..

Some very strange examples of “co-production” being discussed at the moment. If you have very limited involvement of young people and then ignore their views, you can’t call it co-production just because they were in the room.

This is how Glaswegians respond to attempts by authorities to forcibly remove immigrants from a city renowned the world over for its warm welcome. Glasgow belongs to all of us.
#DigitalYouthWork: If what we are talking about is community and how people interact and connect with each other, we can bring our principles in a way which is less tied down to a piece of technology is more about building groups and communities which is part of our practice
I would be sorely tempted to vote for you if I still lived there - great manifesto

Jaw-dropping. The UK Tory government is going to Court to challenge a law passed by @scotparl unanimously. And for what? To protect their ability to legislate/act in ways that breach children’s rights in Scotland. Politically catastrophic, but also morally repugnant.
UK govt is referring two Holyrood laws to @UKSupremeCourt to decide if MSPs have gone beyond the powers of the devolved parliament
The bills would incorporate the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the European Charter of local self govt into Scots law
