This shocked me
#Commanders RB Bill Croskey-Merritt is much more than a sophomore 7th-round back. He was one of the best players in the NFL at doing EXACTLY what David Blough wants him to do
I'm not exaggerating. Take a look for yourself👇

How do you interpret Laremy Tunsil posting himself in a picture of a Commanders uniform?
51%Returning this year
49%Wishing he was healthy
475 votes • Final resultsRelevant #Commanders news: the team signed OLB Kyle Kennard — the 2024 SEC Defensive Player of the Year (11.5 sacks, 3 FF at USC) — to their practice squad
Kennard was a fourth-round pick of the LA Chargers in 2025. He was waived with an injury settlement after failing to appear in a game this year following an undisclosed injury in the preseason

Seattle would net a 2028 3rd if they let Q walk after the year so they basically only lose a 5 for one of the top linemen in the league
Incredible business by SEA
Foreshadowing of my first article on @TheStandardDC tomorrow…
Terry McLaurin is gone. Stefon Diggs only has five catches beyond nine yards downfield. And the Commanders are toward the bottom of the league in explosive passing.
How do they keep the offense humming? 🤔

Between this & the Joe Thuney trade compensation, it’s clear NFL front offices do not value veteran O-linemen high enough
These guys can be quality starters deep into their 30s, and they make offense so much easier
You know I never pegged Jalen Carter as someone who might have maturity issues
"Y'all have a good night and drive home safe."
-- Jalen Carter after he declined to talk with reporters for a third straight game. The #Eagles DT finished with just two assisted tackles in the 38-21 loss to the Cowboys.
He wasn't the only one from Vic Fangio's defense to underperform.
There’s no f*cking way this is all it took
(Yes I know about the contract)
Trade! The Colts are sending eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports.
Super Bowl champs got the best guy available before the deadline. Good for them
Trade: The #Colts are sending eight-time Pro-Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the #Seahawks, per @AdamSchefter and me.
Nelson is on an expiring contract and the Colts get back draft capital now before they could lose him in free agency. A Colts legend goes to the champs.

"If you watch this player since 2024 and you don't think that's a quarterback you want in your building if he's healthy, I don't know what to tell you. You're not a ball knower."
Grant Paulsen wasn't hearing it on the JD5 criticism. You can want more from him and still know he's the guy.
Franchise QB in Sharpie, or still in pencil for you? 👇

This is why I believe the #Commanders should prioritize an offensive head coach in the next hiring cycle
We've talked enough about the offensive line and skill positions... but I'm worried that the inability to stick to an offensive vision is stunting Jayden Daniels' growth
Caleb Williams struggled enormously with adapting to Ben Johnson's offense. But Ben is a terrific head coach, and Caleb has developed into a top MVP candidate
One of the main reasons the Commanders moved on from Kliff Kingsbury was to incorporate more under-center offense, with the belief that would further develop Jayden as a quarterback
How's that worked out?
The Commanders were in shotgun on 74.4% (2nd) of plays with Kliff. That usage has dropped, although it's still close at 66.1% (6th) with Blough, and many of the team's best moments have come when they abandoned their under-center offense
The team was only under center 10.9% (32nd) of the time with Kliff — they're up to 27% with Blough, although that's still only 30th in the league
But this is where the problem truly lies...
When under center, the Commanders are DEAD LAST in EPA per play. They lose 0.3 points relative to the expectation every time they get under center
And to make matters worse, their under-center EPA/pass falls to -0.54 (31st). So these numbers aren't skewed by their general inability to run the ball — they're actually helped by their rushing numbers.
The key difference is that without Kliff, the Commanders' shotgun EPA/play is +0.01 (15th), nine spots below their +0.07 (4th) mark with Kliff
In other words, the "development" piece isn't occurring, given the offense's general inefficiency under center, and the shotgun reps aren't as effective as they were
As always, there's plenty to talk about. O-line, receiver, coordinator, injuries, etc... but a great play-calling head coach presents a consistent vision that is established and expanded over multiple years
Jayden was in a scheme that was initially effective but wasn't great for QB development. But now that he's changed offenses, the returns haven't been what they were expected to be. In fact, the team probably never would've changed offenses if they knew this was what was in store
An offensive head coach — if they are the right guy — doesn't let that happen and maximizes an MVP talent like the one that plays in Landover

Replying to @BarstoolNate
Was off my phone all day. Deleted bc people took it as a quote and I got a bunch of texts when I got back to my phone. The actual quote was: “So coming out of that, I like our fight and our intensity to match our levels of execution and play like we're capable of for all four quarters. There's been this half and that half. I know there's always ebbs and flows of the game and talked about that to the team, but specifically what needs to get done to go win the game”
Check it out!⬇️
After a four-catch, one-touchdown NFL debut against Philadelphia, Commanders first-year receiver Antonio Williams is expected to see more targets following Terry McLaurin’s season-ending injury.

Tonight/Monday at 7:30pm!!!
Meet me on the Bowie TV YouTube channel for the live television recording of the Washington Commanders Update!
What did we learn in the first half of the #Commanders season and what must change (with who they have now) if they want to win more games.
Dan Quinn promised that #Commanders OLB Joshua Josephs would see an increase in playing time in Week 6 because Javontae Jean-Baptiste was sidelined with an injury
He got 13 snaps in the first half — and 0 in the second. The 13 total tied the second-fewest of his six-game career. It's possible that he was banged up and had to come out.
Here are his defensive snaps
