This guy almost got arrested in the US just for frying palm oil. A few months after arriving in the US, he was already missing Nigerian food badly. So, he decided to make ẹ̀fọ́ rírò. He put his palm oil on the fire to heat it, then he left to get something. By the time he returned, smoke had filled the kitchen, and the fire alarm was screaming. His roommate woke up in panic and immediately called 911. Before long, emergency responders arrived with their sirens blaring. They checked the house and confirmed that there was no fire. The guy felt was so embarrassed he wished the ground would swallow him. 😂

I know a lady here in Abuja who makes between ₦500k and ₦700k weekly, from Friday to Sunday, simply by going to nightclubs. Some weeks, according to her, she goes home with over ₦1 million. Her monthly earnings according to her range between ₦2 million and ₦4 million, depending on how things go, but she claims she never makes less than ₦2 million monthly. She dresses up, smells amazing, looks sexy and artificially beautiful, and heads out around 8pm on Friday, returning home between 4 and 5am the following morning. All she does is dance, enjoy herself and collect the dollars and naira people spray on her. Interestingly, she has no regular job or business. She's practically indoors from Monday until Friday night. Club-hopping over the weekend is essentially her source of income. According to her, she deliberately moves between different clubs to avoid becoming too familiar with one particular place. She rotates between the big clubs in Wuse, Asokoro, Maitama and other high-end areas of Abuja. And before you ask, she claims she's not sleeping with anybody. Picking money is simply what she does. Hmm, you see this Abuja just forget am, na different city! The nightlife economy is something else.
