Etsy 3D print re-sellers just got some bad news with them passing the new rules. I for one am ok with this change since it removes most of the sellers that just print the same stolen STL over and over. Yes a few do buy a license to re sell the file but it has overloaded the Etsy market making it feel like temu in a lot of ways. I see these 3d printed flexy projects literally everywhere, and see so many complain online why they are just not magically getting rich over night. I for one don't like these items specially on places like Etsy as it sorta takes away the whole crafted/hand made/original design that Etsy pushed from the start. But when you go through the main page and all you see is the same STL file from a variety of sellers it sorta just feels like a giant flea market of garbage. I print and sell 3D prints but they are all my original designs. I love 3D printing but when I tell people I make my own files and do not sell the file itself it upsets a lot of people. Many do not want to do the work on sculpting their own, nor do they want to learn. Just sick of this "get quick rich" mindset that so many have on platforms like Etsy just because they bought a 3D printer.
