(2/2) We need a climate compensation fund so the coal, oil and gas companies that have contributed the most to the climate crisis pick up some of the damage bill, instead of ordinary Australians. #climatechange #extremeweather

Did you know that even when a product you buy is certified as 'sustainable' it could still be contributing to forest destruction and human rights abuses? We need laws that keep products from ecosystem destruction off the market, NOT greenwashing labels. act.gp/2PH9VxU

REVEALED: World’s largest meat processor JBS purchased meat from ranchers linked to the fires that consumed 30% of Pantanal, Brazil last year. JBS sells meat to food giants such as McDonald’s and Burger King. Here’s how meat tainted with deforestation gets to your plate:

Good to see #Cleveland made the pledge. "Green City on a Blue Lake." @sustainableCLE @GCBL @SustyBryan @CLEH2OAlliance @DrAparnaBole
As of 2017, only 45 of the 100 largest cities had any serious climate pledge. But, these 45 cities will eliminate about 6% of total annual U.S. emissions compared with 2017 levels. This equals to removing about 79 million passenger vehicles from the road. brook.gs/35rP4CY

With all the things we’ll badly need public money to help with during the pandemic economic recovery, its the worst time to WASTE public money on more & wider roads. It never works, except to induce more driving. Via ⁦@StrongTowns⁩ & @WalkableDFW strongtowns.org/journal/2020…

Wow. While taking this in, though, ask why you’re not seeing similar updates from your state or local DOT. Chances are it’s because they’re not bothering to count bike/walk travel routinely.
MnDOT's counters show walking and bicycling up 72 percent statewide since mid-March. Drivers, remember to slow down and watch for people walking and bicycling. If you’re on a walk or bike ride, remember to keep a 6-foot space between yourself and others whenever possible.

Three years ago, Trump proposed a massive rollback in car, truck, and SUV pollution rules. The old rules, he said, “threatened auto jobs.” That rollback came out last month. According to his admin’s own math, it will eliminate 13,500 auto jobs in the US. theatlantic.com/science/arch…

State DOTs are starting to warn that they won't be able to maintain safe highways if they don't get a $50B bailout in the next COVID19 relief bill. But here's the thing: they were begging for cash *before* the pandemic—because we have too many highways. bit.ly/3ac0knD
