Michael Dell: A 70% tax rate? "Name a country where that worked. Ever."
The United States, from 1936 to 1980.
Dumbass.🤦🏻♀️
Tax rates rose to 79% in 1936, rose up to 94% during WWII, fell to 82% in 1949, hovered at 91% from '51 to 63, and then stayed at 70% or above until 1980.
These rates drove us out of the depression and into powerhouse economies.
It was not until Reagan crashed the rates into the 30% range that we started accumulating massive debt and income inequality.
Facts matter.
And the facts show:
Republicans are not good for the economy.

Trump promised to “Drain the Swamp.” Then he made $2 billion off the presidency.
He promised to “Make America Healthy Again.” Then he took healthcare from 15 million people.
He promised “No More Wars.” Then he attacked Iran.
Say NO to Trump. Say NO to a Republican Congress.

In 1952, an English teacher named Cecil Dormand secretly paid for a dirt-poor 11-year-old to take a drama course.
He never told him and the boy didn’t find out until decades later.
By then, he was a knight, that little boy’s name was Patrick Stewart.
He was born into a poor family in Mirfield, a small mill town in Yorkshire and his father came home from World War II a violent man, and he was violent toward Patrick’s mother.
Young Patrick learned exactly when to step between his father’s fist and his mother.
An English teacher put a copy of Shakespeare in his hand and told him to get up and perform.
He never stopped and left school at 15.
By 19 he was completely bald... most agencies told him he'd never make it because of that.
In 1987, the LA Times called him an “unknown British Shakespearean actor” when he was cast as Captain Picard.
Then he became one of the most famous faces on Earth.
You’ve probably heard that part.
Here’s the part you haven’t:
He spent decades as a patron of Refuge, sheltering women and children from domestic violence.
But he never stopped trying to understand his father.
He dug up a 1940 newspaper clipping that said his dad had come home with severe shell shock.
He went to France and walked the ground where his father’s unit was pinned down under bombing for hours.
He learned his father had PTSD, and nobody ever helped him.
So Patrick became an ambassador for Combat Stress, a charity that helps veterans.
In 2013, a young woman at a Texas convention told him she was a survivor of domestic violence.
He asked, “My dear, are you okay?”
Then he hopped off the stage, held her, and told her: “You never have to go through that again, you’re safe now.”
At Dragon Con, a Make-A-Wish girl dressed as Spock came to meet him.
2,000 people were waiting for him to speak... he sat down and talked with her for 15 minutes, making all of them wait.
He told her that since they were friends now, whenever she saw him on screen she could wave and say, “Hello Patrick.”
After 9/11, he felt helpless, so he brought his one-man A Christmas Carol back to Broadway for a full week of charity shows.
He played every character himself and donated every cent.
In 2019 he did it again, and every dollar went to feeding hungry New Yorkers.
In 2017, he fostered a pit bull named Ginger, who had been rescued from a dogfighting ring.
She was his first dog in more than 50 years.
He couldn’t bring her home to England, so he found her a family.
Then he kept fostering more.
When he said he was done with Star Trek so many people told him the show had gotten them through the hardest times of their lives.
So he wanted to see if Picard could do it one more time.
Rest in Peace, Sir Patrick 🖖
There was an article written years ago where Derek Jeter was looking back on his career and one of the moments that stood out to him and stuck with him was a moment in spring training in 1996 .
He said Don Mattingly saw him walking off the field and whispered to him , “let’s run not walk , you never know who’s watching”
Jeter thought at first maybe it was about fans but later understood it was about how to carry yourself as a Yankee .
Mattingly in an interview later said he witnessed Jeter run on and off the field the rest of his career and didn’t realize how much that small moment impacted Jeter , as he was in that moment referring to the Boss.
That small thing set an example for his career and how players around Derek as he became who we all know him to be saw him exemplify what it means to be a Yankee.
“The Yankee Way” …… it might be dead now but I remember these things and it meant something to me as a fan . Being a Yankee meant something , even to people who didn’t like baseball.
Now we’re the butt of jokes .
There was one player I ever heard say they didn’t want to be a Yankee , that was Griffey Jr and he had his reason . That’s it , just one in 40 years . Over the last 5-8 years I’ve heard numerous players say it .
wtf happened to us

BREAKING: America's 706 biggest corporations paid a 10.4% tax rate on $1.88 TRILLION in profits last year.
That's the lowest rate researchers have found in more than 40 years of tracking.
It's also less than half the 21% rate they're supposed to pay.
This is insane.
So Trump just helped Flávio Bolsonaro enter the US without a passport..while he's actively fleeing a Supreme Court arrest warrant for corruption in Brazil.
I thought the mission was to deport criminal foreigners, not harbor them at Mar-a-Lago
MAGA, you are a joke.

A couple days ago, I posted jobs numbers from the past 6 presidents, 3 Republican (Bush I, Bush II, and Trump) and 3 Democratic (Clinton, Obama, and Biden). Over 20 years, nearly 50 million jobs were added under the 3 Democratic presidents, whereas only 2 million have been added under the aforementioned Republicans, over the course of 17 years, 8 months. A good percentage of MAGA responders said something along the lines of, "The Democrat Party only added government jobs! Look at the private sector!"
Very well.
First, let's look at public sector or government jobs.
George H.W. Bush (R, 4 years): +1.127M
Bill Clinton (D, 8 years): +1.934M
George W. Bush (R, 8 years): +1.744M
Barack Obama (D, 8 years): -263k
Donald Trump I (R, 4 years): -575k
Joe Biden (D, 4 years): +1.816M
Donald Trump II (R, 1 year, 8 months): -230k
Democratic Presidents (20 years): +3.487M
Republican Presidents (17 years, 8 months): +2.066M
Difference: Democrats +1.421M/Republicans -1.421M
Not much difference. Now let's move onto the private sector.
George H.W. Bush (R, 4 years): +1.502M
Bill Clinton (D, 8 years): +20.979M
George W. Bush (R, 8 years): -368k
Barack Obama (D, 8 years): +11.812M
Donald Trump I (R, 4 years): -2.19M
Joe Biden (D, 4 years): +13.589M
Donald Trump II (R, 1 year, 8 months): +1.006M
Democratic Presidents (20 years): +46.380M
Republican Presidents (17 years, 8 months): -50k
Difference: Democrats +46.430M/Republicans -46.430M
That's right, over the past 37 years, 8 months, Republican presidents are actually underwater, as far as private-sector jobs go, whereas Democrats are 46 million+ above it. No matter what the GOP tries to sell you on the old, tired narrative that they're better for the economy, the numbers tell a completely different story.

When CC Sabathia, Jorge Posada and Anthony Rizzo are all slamming the Yankees culture and separating themselves from it... maybe the fans aren't the dumb ones anymore?
Jorge Posada was asked if he thinks he could improve the Yankees "unacceptable" behaviors by bringing his fiery attitude and baseball instincts around the current team:
"I could, but I don't think they want me there. I don't feel welcome when I go there. Even in Spring Training... So I don't go."

There is MUCH more at stake in this election than Donald Trump.
Let me be absolutely clear. If Democrats win control of the House and Senate and do absolutely NOTHING to hold those responsible for corruption accountable, they will NEVER receive another dime from me.
I am DONE with congressional hearings that lead nowhere, strongly worded letters, political theater, and empty promises.
I want investigations. I want subpoenas. I want criminal referrals. And where crimes can be proven, I want indictments, prosecutions, and prison sentences.
And I’m not talking about Trump alone.
Let’s start with Kristi Noem.
Her department oversaw a taxpayer-funded advertising campaign reportedly costing $240 MILLION, prominently featuring HERSELF.
A newly formed LLC received a $143 MILLION contract approximately ONE WEEK after its creation. Politically connected firms were involved, including one with ties to Noem’s inner circle.
WHO authorized these contracts?
WHO received the money?
WHO personally benefited?
And WHY were normal competitive bidding procedures bypassed?
FOLLOW THE DAMN MONEY.
Then there’s Pete Hegseth. Investigate allegations of unlawful military actions and potential war crimes. If laws were broken, prosecute those responsible, regardless of rank or position.
Pam Bondi. Investigate whether the Justice Department was used to shield political allies, obstruct justice, or selectively enforce the law.
And EVERY OTHER official who may have abused public office for personal or political gain.
This cannot be another election where Democrats campaign on accountability, win power, and then tell Americans it’s time to move forward.
NO. WE ARE NOT MOVING ON.
We cannot allow corruption to become an accepted cost of doing business in Washington.
We cannot allow public officials to treat taxpayer money like their personal checking accounts.
And we cannot allow the powerful to operate under an entirely different set of laws than the American people.
Accountability is NOT political revenge.
It is the foundation of the rule of law.
Because when corruption goes unpunished, it doesn’t disappear.
IT BECOMES A BLUEPRINT FOR THE NEXT ADMINISTRATION.
Democrats need to understand something before November:
We are not voting simply to replace Republicans with Democrats.
We are voting to restore accountability, integrity, and the principle that NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.
If winning elections doesn’t lead to accountability, what exactly are we voting for?
