This week's term: Enthalpy
Onnes worked out of the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, where he ran the world's leading low-temperature physics lab. He first liquefied helium there in 1908 and discovered superconductivity in 1911, work that won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1913.
He also coined the word "cryogenic" itself, years before enthalpy.
