I’ve been doing Youtube for 14 years, grew a channel to 7M Subscribers, another 7M on FB and Tiktok and here’s the most important thing I’ve learned: No amount of views, money or notoriety could ever hold a candle to the temporary sense of fulfillment one feels during the creative process. It is simply peak. Try as you may, but if you’re anything like me, the pursuit of anything other than creation for creation’s sake, will be emotionally unsatisfying and ultimately, mentally unsustainable. Here’s why I think that is. Money, fame, fans, etc., are all side effects of initially pursuing a selfish, insatiable desire to create and self-express. Along with this comes the realization that there is no “full”. There is simply “full for now.” And doing something which doesn’t provide that novel sense of self-expression will become tiresome. Again, this might just apply to me but I think there are artists who will agree.
