Encouraging news from the NHS, with a new trial looking at whether simple blood tests could help detect cancers, including bowel cancer, earlier.
Early diagnosis can save lives, so we'll be very interested to see the results.

Good news from Kent, where Medway Maritime Hospital is now offering a less invasive way to investigate bowel cancer symptoms.
Instead of a traditional colonoscopy, suitable patients can swallow a tiny camera that takes pictures as it passes through the bowel.
A welcome development that could make testing much easier for patients.

This is such incredibly sad news - Irish athlete Ciara Mageean has died at just 34 after being diagnosed with bowel cancer.
She was a hugely talented and much-respected Olympian, who had only recently married her long-term partner, Thomas.
We are so saddened by this news, and our thoughts are with Ciara's husband, family and friends.
34 is far too young. Another heartbreaking reminder that bowel cancer doesn't just affect older people.

After having to rearrange because of the weather, we're so pleased it all came together and everyone was able to enjoy a day of painting in such a beautiful setting.

Why not join us for a day of plein air painting in the beautiful surroundings of Silent Pool? The weather is looking a little chilly but bright, so wrap up warm and come along!
You can register on the day - just arrive at 10.30am and we'll get you signed up. Entry is £25 and all abilities are welcome.
All funds raised will support GUTS Fighting Bowel Cancer, our small charity based at Royal Surrey Hospital, helping to raise awareness of bowel cancer and improve survival.
