The Last Jedi did so much more than kill Star Wars
It showed us the hypocrisy of the online movie critic space where they outright lied about the film to keep their access.
It had them and the traditional media and the studios GO AFTER fans who didn't like the film, calling them slurs, it created a war between the casual fan and the established media and film media
Because of that rift it caused the ordinary fan to search out new sources of film criticism launching the careers of up till then unknown film critics and youtubers who were unafraid to take the heat and speak their minds on this and other films to come
It started a war that still rages to this day
It was a self inflicted wound that permanently infected the relationship of the fan and the filmmaker that may never heal
The Last Jedi is not just the worst Star Wars film, it's the most destructive film ever made

『ゴジラ-0.0』には敵怪獣としてドゴラが出るのでは?と予想している方もいたので妄想しました。いつかゴジラとの絡みも見てみたい怪獣ですね(笑)

Two things.
Number one, Rings of Power is anything but successful. If Amazon hadn't signed a five-year commitment, they would've cancelled it after season two.
Secondly, the best thing for the "franchise" is for any and all adaptations to cease. Promote the books only, re-release all of Tolkien's books regularly with new illustrations from different, reputable artists. That's it.
No more games, movies or television shows. Each new one just proves Tolkien correct when he said that his mythos is not suited for dramatization. As a Tolkien fanatic, I genuinely hope that Hunt for Gollum fails miserably. I want anyone thinking of adapting that world to be discouraged from doing so.
I was talking to a few Tolkien people recently and it struck me ... the "franchise" is struggling.
Since the Peter Jackson LOTR films, we have had:
- The Hobbit films, which were profitable, but a step down from the LOTR films
- War of the Rohirrim, which was neither profitable nor critically acclaimed
- The Rings of Power, which has succeeded on Amazon's own terms, but has far from universal acclaim
- When was the last great LOTR video game? Shadow of Mordor? That was 12 years ago.
Lord of the Rings is no longer the gold standard when it comes to fantasy adaptations.
We really, really need The Hunt for Gollum to work both commercially and critically.
