There you have it: the most intelligent critique of economics from a socialist.
Replying to @GabeEcon
fake discipline, fake science only fit for apologia. bitchmade body of thought aping physics, real loser shit
It tells us economists have tried to understand social phenomena
through better theory and new empirical methods. We don’t blindly follow Marx or socialist goals in researching questions.
Although, Marx was wrong about economics! He was writing in the 19th century! It’s 2026.
Most people who study the economy for a living (economists) are not Marxists or socialists. That should tell us something.
Growing up is realizing Hayek was a way better philosopher than he was an economist.
I think economics is the only field that's been called "unscientific in the true sense of the word" by one of its Nobel laureates.

I'm thrilled to be launching Econvitals today. It's been the main way in which I have been tracking and understanding the economy over the last several months. And I decided I might as well share it with all of you--for free.
Has a combo of website, email lists & social media.
Well, I’m guessing you’re not part of the top 1%, yet you still have enough leisure time to post on X. So, I think it’s reasonable to assume that plenty of people outside the top 1% enjoy leisure time.
Ngl it’s a pretty big deal the likely next senator from Michigan openly campaigns with someone who said America deserved 9/11 and walks around cosplaying as Mao who killed tens of millions of people.
Me: "Do you know how many times you've tweeted about Piker since you wrote that tweet [about not tweeting about him] on August 30th?"
@mattyglesias: "Probably more than I intended to."
Me: "8 times.... you tweeted about Mike Rogers 6 times. So you're tweeting about the streamer you didn't want to talk about more than the Republican candidate you say you want to defeat."
Yglesias: "Yeah, that's fair."
Me: "Why?"
Yglesias: "What do you want me to say? You got me."
From my new Zeteo interview with the top centrist pundit - on the left, Michigan, Gaza, immigration, polls, electability, and more:

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Yglesias's posts since Aug 30 include ~5 mentioning Piker and at least 9 mentioning Rogers/Rodgers, not 8 and 6. Hasan posted about Piker ~35 times in the period.

If you ever feel stupid, just remember that there exist grown adults who actually believe no one ever died from starvation or illness before the invention of capitalism.
This is such a selfish statement. They want to create art that no one else values while someone else works and subsidizes their lifestyle choices. Pre-capitalist life was not some utopia. Capitalism has created the prosperity necessary for increased leisure time.

Is this it? Just people saying stuff without evidence about a guy who's dead? I thought they supposedly had something real on an actual living senator.

One of the worst effects of college education of the masses is that it has fooled a lot of college graduates into believing that they are smarter than they actually are.
Elon Musk should be deported.
Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of the military version of Starlink that Ukraine relies on, according to U.S. officials and people familiar with the matter who spoke to The Wall Street Journal. Musk wrote on X after it became public that “any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS.” Trump told reporters Monday he didn’t know who was responsible, “but I would like to find out.”
The Journal reports Musk and Trump spoke by phone soon after the slowdown became public, according to two people, and one said they also discussed it before. Some U.S. officials told the Journal Musk acted unilaterally and Trump did not order retribution against Ukraine.
That conflicts with earlier reports. Reuters reported the order came from inside the White House, and The Telegraph reported Musk proposed it to Trump. A senior U.S. official told Reuters the president made no such request.

Communists are so behind that they’re just now learning about the short-run supply curve and supply rigidities, and they think they’ve discovered something profound😭🤣

The fatal challenge to heterodox economics is that there isn't actually orthodox economics.
Just take a few recent Nobels: behavioral, information failure, institutions, bubbles, financial fragility, labor monopsony (sort of), Schumpeterian creative destruction, etc.
Not to mention RCTs which are emblematic of how much economic research is empirical and only lightly if at all structural.
The real difference is methods. Heterodox economics is an avowedly political project not a social scientific effort to better understand the world. And I have nothing against political projects just shouldn't confuse the two.
