Eden survived the unthinkable. 🤍🐾
Perhaps Eden was given her name for a reason, because from the very moment she came into our lives, she was already surviving the impossible.
Today, Eden went in for what should have been a routine keyhole spay.
But almost immediately, the vet looked through the camera and saw something he should never have expected to see.
Eden had a peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia. Her stomach and liver had moved through an abnormal opening in her diaphragm and into the space around her heart.
And incredibly, it was the way her liver had become lodged that had been helping to keep her alive.
Until today, Eden had been running happily around the park, seemingly no different from any other day. There were no obvious signs that anything was wrong. We had absolutely no idea!
She went in for a spay and suddenly needed a life-saving operation.
Eden is now recovering and is stable. 🤍
Thank you Pet Wellness, fisioterapia - endoscopia veterinaria for the incredibly quick action.
That certainly wasn’t expected today 🫣
Well some good news… 🗞️
Matisse leg did not have to be amputated ❤️
On the other hand… the cone didn’t make it 🙄
Absolutely lovely girl that needs a home 🏠
EMERGENCY 🚨 Can we all band together for Eden?
She’s having an emergency operation.
She went in for a keyhole spay and they found a large diaphramic hernia being blocked accidentally by the liver.
This will blow at any moment and she’ll pass in minutes.
Until now we’ve never saved a dog with this condition as it was too late.
The good news is she was on the table when they found it so we have a chance but it’s extremely complicated.
We are waiting for news if she’s made it…
We have the best gds family so any words of support are appreciated.
We struggle in times like this 😞
We often hear people say, “I couldn’t adopt an old dog. I couldn’t cope with losing them so soon.”
But what about the dog? They can’t bear the thought of dying alone in a kennel, either. And the truth is, we could lose a young dog at any moment, too.
Sometimes, we need to be stronger for them. To put their needs before our fear of heartbreak. Because giving an old dog a loving home, even for a short time, will mean the world to them.
What I love most about volunteers visiting Galgos del Sol is seeing how often their minds change. They come to meet the dogs, witness their daily lives in kennels, and discover what a difference they could make. They begin to understand that rescue isn’t just about finding a dog to fit into your life, altho that’s off course important, It’s also about seeing the dog who needs you most, and asking what you could offer them.
Of course, adopting a puppy or a younger dog is every bit as much a rescue. Every dog deserves a home. ❤️ But there is something incredibly special about giving an old dog the chance. And that’s exactly what Catherine has decided to do.
After volunteering at Galgos del Sol twice in just a few months, Catherine & Shaun have opened their hearts to Rubio, an elderly boy, isolated his whole younger life who now struggles to interact with other dogs. His time is precious. They have chosen to give him the retirement he deserves, lots of adventures, rather than kennel walls.
Thank you, for reserving our old, lumpy boy Rubio. ❤️ Even after recently having some lumps removed, he deserves this. Rubio will leave in the next months 💕
Did Romeo get beaten?
The video suggests a possibility.
Left with a broken hip, it was that tragedy that saved him as he was given away.
He’s had an operation and has worked hard to get better. Please share, he really needs to get out the kennels now and us a gentle lad that needs some cuddles and love! 🙏🏻❤️
Jolly is a new boy just 2yrs old.
He’s so jolly hearted it’s the only name that suited him.
You know how it goes here tho 🤣… it will be jolly pants 👖 in no time.
This jovial, jolly hearted lad needs a home 🏠
Plz share 🙏🏻❤️
Matisse has gone to the trauma vet today and we are waiting to hear if the leg needs to be amputated.
Sadly the injury is so old that to try and fix the hip is going to be difficult and even make it worse.
Wish her luck 🙏🏻❤️
Meet Shy, the podenca rescued recently from the streets.
We told her to strike a pose to melt your hearts ❤️
Did she succeed?
She’s 4yrs old and needs a home 🙏🏻❤️
🚨🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 ATTENTION, UK! THE HEI-WA
T-SHIRTS HAVE LANDED! 🚨
That’s H-E-I-W-A — yes, spell it out, remember the name, and get ready to wear it with pride! 👕🔥
We’ve got a bona fide superstar amongst us, and now you can show the world that you’re backing the one, the only, two-legged dog from China! 🐕🇨🇳
Why settle for an ordinary T-shirt when you can wear a conversation starter? Expect double takes, curious questions, and possibly a few people wondering if they’ve missed an important episode of life!
Stock is LIMITED, so don’t sit around waiting for a miracle. These shirts won’t last forever, and neither will your chance to look this ridiculously good while supporting a legend.
As stock is limited please email Suzie at [email protected] to place your order and let her confirm there is one for you before you pay. That’s £35 including postage and half the profits go to Candy’s Hound Rescue to help them rescue more dogs just like him from China. These days that’s just a few coffees…
We look forward to you placing your order!
USA and EU… you’re next don’t worry!
Hank will always be my number one and I don’t think we will get to see Xmas together.Hank is between 14 and 16yrs and we built GDS side by side 🐾
He hasn’t even left yet and it upsets me so much 😞
I never thought I could look after a special needs dog. Then Hei-Wa allowed me to see what I was capable of ❤️
Not only is hei-Wa having to run Galgos del Sol on minimum pay, but now he’s been asked to take up modelling, too! 😂
Okay, so it might not be Milan or Paris Fashion Week, but it’s still a pretty important gig!
He’s making his modelling debut for the wonderful book Sighthound Stories created by Myriam. 📚🐾
Galgos del Sol wrote a few chapters in the book, one of which is about Rocket 🚀. Tissues might be needed. Hei-wa was a little disappointed to discover that he’d arrived just after the feature was done. Otherwise, naturally, the entire book would have been about him! 😎
If you’d like to get your paws on a copy and support this lovely project, please click the link below.
It looks like Hei-Wa is a bit in love with the lovely Galga on the front cover.
Thats Myriam’s heart dog Layla 🩷

Well, that was a morning of chaos as we got 17 rescue dogs ready for their new homes ❤️
Sadly, one had to stay behind as she was feeling a little under the weather, so in total, 16 set off on their new adventures.
We are absolutely delighted and so grateful to @All4dogs for all their hard work, the donations they bring each time for our charity shop, and, most importantly, their passion for finding our dogs wonderful, loving homes.
Thank you so much, everyone, and good luck to all our lovely dogs in their new homes! 🐾
When you arrive in a vegetable crate, you know you’re extra special! 🥹🐾❤️
This adorable puppy and his older companion, Sultan, have been dropped off at Galgos del Sol, and both are now looking for loving forever homes. 🏡💕
Sultan is 10yrs and already has his name, but this little boy needs something just as special — a cute new name to call his own!
What shall we call him? 🙏🏻❤️
Abu is a lovely Galga that recently arrived to Galgos del Sol.
She’s around 4 to 5yrs old, super sweet and gentle and good on a lead.
Sometimes when you approach she just closes her eyes slightly & flutters her eye lashes like she’s worried but she soon opens up again
😍
Shes lovely.
Let’s find her a home 🥰
Hei-Wa loves his bottom cleans. Everyday shower in the plastic bed with holes over the top of the drain 🤣💕
