Episode 1 explores why we do what we do. Short answer? Pattern repetition xitter.cf/Gbemisoke/status/20996…
New Series Alert📢 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 with Coach G Episode 1: Why we hit our children (even when we promised we wouldn't) When we default to violence, we’re often just using the only tool our own parents had. But we can’t teach our children self-control by losing ours

Episode 2 offers you an alternative. Short answer: choosing actions based on desired results, not just inherited patterns and impulse.
𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 with Coach G Episode 2: Outcome-Focused Choices Using the tools handed down to us wouldn't be a problem if we liked the outcome. If we want confident, emotionally regulated children, our choices must lead to that reality. I offer a mindset shift

"intimacy is about safety. It’s about feeling truly seen, understood and cared for" 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
On my birthday this year, while we were still lying in bed, my partner pulled out a list of everything I’d accomplished since my last birthday and read every single thing to me. I don’t think I’ll ever recover from how loved that made me feel.

Yes. oh so cancer can be cured but my own person died? the testimony lets me know getting better was an option, we just didn't get it. Hurts so much and don't tell me sorry or offer an explanation like that's supposed to make me feel better. It doesn't. They're dead.
Does it hurt to see people testify over what you’re praying for?

Personal exceptionalism?
When I started dating my ex I heard stories how he abused his ex, I couldn’t believe it bc he never for once hit me even as a joke. This abusers really pick their victims, he knew not to try it with me!

not a new topic. Hopefully we can become more aware of being prone to it and maybe opt out of it so we don't suffer the consequences?
Personal Exceptionalism. That's what this thing she's doing, (that many of us also do) is called. She's already getting piled on, so I'm choosing to focus on pointing out how it impacts those we think we're more "special" than.

I enjoyed reading the real life stories. Good example for how complex human behavior can be, and how we may not know the lived experiences that inform other people's choices. "Why don't they just..." they have reasons fam human behavior is soooooo fascinating to me
One of my favorite acts of kindness from Nigerians is when they put that extra tap outside their compound to supply free water to neighbors who can’t afford personal boreholes.

Circular Causality: my therapist take on Keeping Up With The Okoyes (and why family therapy is important).
I've never wished my therapist was a naija babe so bad until today. shebi me too I would've brougt this gist up in my session the way my own clients did, so we could've dissected the matter clinically and found a way to relate it to my life

My favorite part of Keeping Up With The Okoyes: He said if respect is assigned by chronological age, Lola is at the top of the totem pole. And that's on nwanem Peter, nwanem Paul!

The boy whose mum brought a goat to his sign-out says she traveled over 2 hours from their village to his school in Owerri with the goat just to surprise him. Mothers are truly special. 🥹❤️

Perhaps they themselves are not autonomous adults and their parents run their lives, so that's baseline? It's interesting TO ME that it's a pattern they'd be looking to replicate tho. So interesting
