Dear dark skinned indigenous Americans, Let them ridicule. Let them hate. They are not of these lands. They’ve long forgotten the buried of their own ancestral homelands. Nor can they fathom what took place on the soil beneath their feet long before a path to this place existed. They don’t know the history. They aren’t aware of your family trees. They don’t know the bones and roots beneath this red clay that cry out to you. We are not the same. Your ancestors faced the same and even worse under the threat of violence, oppressive legislation and more. And yet you remember. For them. For you. For our futures. Continue to honor the relatives that came before you and what it means to these lands. For what was once prohibited, is now being proclaimed! 🪶
