When a neurodivergent person info-dumps on you, theyβre not lecturing. Theyβre letting you in.

Telling people I'm autistic is horrendous because now I have to watch them creating a fake version of me in their mind based off their own wild misconceptions of what autism is

When youβre neurodivergent in a world built around neurotypical people, you often recognize that something about your experience is different long before you understand what it is.
You see other people doing everyday things without much effort, while you struggle with tasks everyone insists are simple. You wonder why ordinary responsibilities feel so difficult for you when they seem so natural to everyone else.
Sometimes, the hardest part is knowing youβre struggling without having the language to explain why.

Idk why I keep getting on this appβ¦it just continues to remind me how many of you lack critical thinking skills.

having a crush on someone while feeling like youβre not attractive enough to even have a chance with them is a different kind of embarrassment

this is why boundaries are so important. bc its not actually your job to manage the emotions of emotionally immature adults. and people like this will take advantage of your lack of boundaries + willingness to be the bigger person. you become a safe space for their worst behavior
not enough people talk about the burnout that comes from constantly dealing with unhealed adults. always being the bigger person. always managing their triggers while suppressing your own. always explaining basic respect and accountability to people stuck in survival mode. that kind of exhaustion is soul tiring. protect your peace before you lose yourself carrying what other people refuse to heal within themselves.

the loneliest thing about being late-diagnosed neurodivergent is realizing you've been walking around your whole life expecting people to eventually get tired of you. you don't reach out first. you don't ask to be included. you don't invite anyone anywhere. because deep down you're convinced you're the friend they'd rather not have if given the option.

8 likes at the time of me posting this which is more than enough for a secret Santa IRL, so fuck it weβre doing it. I hope this grows!!
Iβll put together a google forms and make this more formal. Stay tuned - Iβll get something posted within the next couple days

What makes this particular secret Santa coolβ¦
It could be a supporter, someone who works in sports, an athlete themselves - you could get connected with someone super freaking cool that you wouldnβt connect with otherwise!
What do ya got to lose? We all need some fun and joy!
Small talk is literal pain. Icebreakers can contextually be fun but most people make them boring as fuck. Phone calls with the right person/people is great (but surprise calls from anyone suck). Networking events..fuck off. π
