My heartfelt congratulations to Catherine Constantinides on receiving the Presidential Medal of Honour in Cyprus. This is an exceptional and richly deserved recognition of a lifetime dedicated to service, advocacy and creating positive change. For decades, Catherine has been a powerful voice for those who often go unheard. Her unwavering commitment to activism, community service and environmental stewardship has touched countless lives, both in South Africa and across the world. She has consistently used her platform to champion human rights, empower young people, promote social justice and remind us all of our collective responsibility to protect our planet for future generations. What makes Catherine truly remarkable is that her work has never been about personal recognition or accolades. It has always been driven by compassion, courage and an unshakeable belief that every person has the power-and the responsibility-to make a difference. Whether engaging with world leaders, working alongside communities on the ground, advocating for climate action, or inspiring the next generation of changemakers, she has led with humility, integrity and purpose. Her passion for environmental conservation has been unwavering. At a time when climate change poses one of the greatest challenges facing humanity, Catherine has remained a tireless advocate for sustainable development, environmental protection and climate justice. She has reminded us that caring for the environment is inseparable from caring for people, especially the most vulnerable. Equally inspiring is her dedication to community service. Through countless initiatives, campaigns and partnerships, she has worked to uplift communities, empower women and youth, support vulnerable people and promote a culture of active citizenship. Her life’s work demonstrates that true leadership is measured not by titles, but by service, compassion and the lasting impact one leaves on others. This prestigious honour is a fitting tribute to a woman whose work is not merely a profession-it is a calling. It recognises a life lived with courage, conviction and selfless dedication to making the world a better, fairer and more sustainable place. Congratulations, Catherine. Your remarkable journey continues to inspire so many of us. May this honour remind you of the profound difference you have made and continue to make. Thank you for your extraordinary activism, your service to communities, your unwavering care for our environment, and for showing us all what principled leadership truly looks like. The Presidential Medal of Honour could not have gone to a more deserving recipient. @ChangeAgentSA
