I want to speak to you directly about what happened.
Bottom line - your money is safe, and we're covering every loss.
Our initial investigation suggests this security incident may have started with a compromised DevOps engineer's laptop. That gave an attacker access to a service container, where they submitted unauthorized withdrawal transactions.
To be clear: the attacker did not simply use one engineer's permissions, and this was not a single "one-click" action. It involved a more complex attack process. Our investigation has not attributed responsibility to any individual.
So far, we have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak.
We'll share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and every fact is verified - and publish an updated Proof of Reserves once remediation is complete.
What you need to know:
• Your funds are safe
• Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and company funds
• Estimated total impact: ~$6.3B, with ~$3B frozen on-chain so far, in coordination with our blockchain partners
• No evidence of any wallet private key leak
• Deposits are unaffected and operating as normal
What we've done:
• Temporarily suspended withdrawals while we complete a security revamp of the withdrawal service and its related addresses
• Revoked the affected address authorizations
• Engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds
Our team hasn't stopped. We're working closely with law enforcement to ensure the matter is handled appropriately - and I'll share what I can, as soon as I can.

Singapore police said on October 28 that some Ledger cryptocurrency hardware wallets purchased from local retailers contained malicious hardware implants capable of stealing users' recovery phrases or private keys. At least two cases have been reported since September 10, resulting in losses of approximately S$3.5 million ($2.7 million). Ledger, a leading French hardware wallet manufacturer, is reviewing the affected cases, while police investigations remain ongoing.

what the f*ck is wrong with apple. i plugged my ipad into my computer last night and claude pulled out 2,841 photos i deleted YEARS ago still sitting on the device with gps and timestamps attached
the ones i cleared from Recently Deleted. the 2fa screenshots i wiped in under 60 seconds. the stuff i deleted twice to be sure. all of it. right there
one prompt. 3 minutes. i did not write a single line of code
i only opened claude because my ipad kept screaming "storage almost full" with 300 photos in the camera roll. claude pulled the backup tree apart and surfaced a folder nobody talks about: PhotoData/CPL/staging
here is what was in it, in full resolution:
-> 2,841 "deleted" photos with gps still attached
-> screenshots of 2fa codes i wiped the same minute i took them
-> every photo i ever sent in a disappearing message
-> live photo motion clips for pictures that are supposedly gone
the thing apple will never say in a keynote: when you delete a photo, ipados marks it "pending deletion" and parks it in a staging folder until icloud sync completes. if sync drops once (wifi switch, airplane mode, dead battery) the file stays there. forever
this is not a theory. apple admitted this exact class of bug in may 2024 when ios 17.5 started dragging deleted photos back into galleries. they patched it in 17.5.1 and quietly blamed "a corrupted database entry". translation: the data was never gone. it was waiting
i would never have found it. i did not know the folder existed. i did not know sync could fail silently. claude read the whole backup like a map and handed me 2,841 receipts in one prompt
then it did step 2 without being asked. listed every app on my ipad with Full Photos access, sorted by last-used date. 14 apps. 5 i did not recognize. one from 2023. two i had already deleted the icon of but the permission was still live
cut all of them in 2 minutes:
-> Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → set everything to None or Selected Photos Only
-> Settings → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders → revoke anything you do not use weekly
-> Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted → Select All → Delete All (this is the only tap that actually finishes it today)
