“Human history becomes more and more a race between education and catastrophe.”
H.G. Wells
When I think of working class Americans in the rust belt getting screwed by the Man and jobs shipped overseas, I don’t think of “Born in the USA” by Bruce Springsteen.
I think of Palantir ♥️
Palantir CEO Alex Karp on open borders and killing fentanyl traffickers:
“If fentanyl was killing 60,000 Yale grads instead of 60,000 working class people, we’d be dropping a nuclear bomb on whoever was sending it from South America.
“At Palantir, we are on the side of the average American who sometimes gets screwed because all the empathy goes to elite people, and none goes to the people actually dying on our streets.
“When you have an open border, it means the average poor American earns less.
“To believe our Constitution does not give us a right to stop 60,000 deaths a year of working class men and women, is insane. This country is right to stop that. To the extent we’re involved in these efforts, I and many Palantirians are proud.”

Congratulations to the culture and the dot era for successfully ending a streak of 35 years, eight months and three weeks.
No rap songs appear in the top 40 on the Hot 100 for the first time since February 1990.
You goofy hiphop journalists cheered for the label and supported the smear campaign to push out the only guy who carried this genre for 15 consecutive years by calling him a pedophile pat yourselves on the back

Quick reminder that if you don't hit $47M revenue in 3 weeks then you should go ahead and shut down.
We had a tight crew for October Founder Fridays!
This just meant we got to know in detail how we were all thinking about sustainable competitive advantages in the age of AI, bootstrapping vs. fundraising, and founder-market fit.
Here is what everyone is working on:
Jack Saltel is a 2x founder and the Co-Founder of V Codinator, The Duolingo for Vibe Coding. It's increasingly easy for non-techies to build web applications, but without guidance you'll accidentally delete your production DB or worse, share your users sensitive info without realizing it. Reach out to V Codinator to learn how to vibe-code in style!
Issac Yonemoto is making progress with Vidala Labs, his biotech startup. Officially set up the lab in Austin and working toward distrupting pharmaceutical manufacturing.
John Lindsay is curious how autonomous drones can be leveraged to make first-responders more efficient, and moving away from the ideation phase.
Grateful to Sophia Spurlock and @BancOfCal, who help make this happen and provided the 🍕 & 🍻 tab.
This was the One Year Anniversary of me hosting Founder Fridays here in Austin 🎉🥳 🎊!
Grateful to all the founders who have shown up and shares their story, to our sponsors for the support, and to @Jason , @LAUNCH and @twistartups for encouraging these events!
Racism is the only thing stopping Socialism from taking over.
My personal conspiracy theory is that Black poverty in America is purposefully engineered by the government to prevent the White poor from becoming the underclass, so they don’t shoot up the place like they usually did in Europe.
In terms of population, there are more poor White people in America than Black people, but no one seems to notice or care. Poverty in America is primarily associated with Black people, and all populous sentiment is redirected as racial animus towards Blacks
lol @ Dave Portnoy saying people should be punished for saying something rude, offensive or dumb in real time.
How long will we wait before he himself says something offensive and/or dumb? Under 8.5 weeks?

With Kimmel getting canned I’m seeing lots of people talking about the hypocrisy of cancel culture. To me Cancel culture is when people go out of their way to dig up old tweets, videos etc looking for dirt on somebody they don’t like in an effort to get them fired. Like if Kimmel got canceled for shit he did on the Man Show that would be cancel culture. But when a person says something that a ton of people find offensive, rude, dumb in real time and then that person is punished for it that’s not cancel culture. That is consequences for your actions
9/10 right wing anons are run by someone from India trying to make ad dollars.
Imagine crashing out over white supremacist tweets from someone who isn’t even white lol.
SEP-DEC = 4th quarter = Lock-in time!

No one gets fired for buying IBM
No one gets fired for investing in a Ivy League/FAANG founder
Honestly insane how many of these tier 1 backed VC companies have the same story:
-cofounders from some prestige background sell VCs on some pie-in-the-sky concept that no one wants
-raise $100m+
-hire random roles like a chief AI officer for a non-AI startup
-have 0 users
-exit via OTC deals becoming a multi-millionaire
-“step back” right before vesting renews
IP protocol made $24 in revenue yesterday.
The pitch has also never made sense to anyone who has actually worked with IP licensing.
Meanwhile founders who know their industry inside and out, aren’t flash in the pan and spent decades in their field get passed over for the next Stanford kid with buzzwords who puts on a show.
I’ve tried to always have my angel checks go to actual experienced operators, with all the pros and cons that go with it.
But it’s so disheartening that even the “top VCs” just seem stuck on this loop of rewarding flash over substance.
How the hell do we advance as an industry, if you throw money at smoke, mirrors and grift?

There is absolutely no societal impact you can make by being a twitter anon.
I respect your right to do it.
But you must respect that your opinions do not matter to anybody.
May as well make a burner account and just read the brave people’s posts.
Your posts = 0.
Anons who comment on American cultural issues incessantly aren’t hiding their identify because they might get fired.
August's Founder Friday was 🔥 🔥 🥵 !
(Literally, it might have gotten to +90 °F degrees that day)
Despite that, thanks to everyone who still came, shared food, drinks, and their startup journey.
Had a great mix of new founders and regulars, highlighting a few below!
Bruce Boville, Co-Founder of Cold Cycle Coffee, explained that cold brew ≠ ice coffee, and how it has a laborious preparation time. With their patent-approved “Brrrista Machine”, the process time for making 6 gallons of cold brew is reduced from 12-24 hours to 30 min.
Umesh Raja, Founder of WakePackGo, came back with great progress news. Since he last attended, they’ve launched their product to paying customers. Their AI agents scan multiple booking platforms and apply advanced travel hacks for unbeatable savings, try it out if you’re planning a trip soon!
Really grateful to Sophia Spurlock and @BancOfCal for providing the 🍕 & 🍻. We had great food, great drinks, and great conversations.
Thank you to everyone that came, see you in September!
