I’ve been in this space for ten years and I have never been more disgusted with crypto than I am today. Memes have taken the industry down a dark road.
What started off as a technology that would change the world, and other products that would help to make it better, faster, cheaper, and more transparent has devolved into nothing more than a casino.
It was always a casino in a sense, but still had some purpose, or at least a sense of purpose in what we were building.
Meme coins have changed all of that and brought us to the point where it really is just gambling, no utility, with very few winners, and a lot of advertisements to make think you are going to get rich when in reality 99% of people will lose all of their money.
The worst part is that most of these are people that can’t afford to lose that money.
And the money that got burned is not going back into the system, it has been syphoned out and those that lost money ain’t coming back to buy your alt coins.
I think we all thought this was kind of fun at the beginning, pump.fun killed everything though by eliminating all barriers to entry and making it easy to launch. Even I experimented briefly with it at the beginning, and lost all the money I allocated to the experiment because I would not dump on followers which apparently it’s the only way to make money. A true pyramid scheme.
Outside of $BTC, you are going to have to be very selective in what you are buying because one thing we know is not everything pumps, but eventually, everything dumps.
And institutions aren’t coming for your alt coins.
This is not a good look for an industry that frankly was already ugly.

I’m so fucked and I don’t know what to do.
When the Hawk Tuah girl announced that she’d release a coin, I genuinely thought it would be my shot at making millions.
I convinced my parents to take out a 2nd mortgage on the house, liquidated all my assets, took out a 6 figure loan from the bank and then put everything on $tuah the second it released.
For the first 20 minutes I was in a state of literal euphoria.
I was worth tens of millions of dollars and could see the generational wealth being accumulated in front of my eyes;
- My parents would have finally, after years, been able to quit their 2nd jobs that they started working in order to allow me to stream from home full-time.
- Me and my girlfriend would be able to go on real date nights after over a year of scrounging pennies.
- I’d be able to tell my grandmother that she doesn’t have to give me her insulin money so I could buy WoW memberships and RP.
And then it all came crashing down.
In the span of minutes, I lost everything, tens of millions reduced to tens of thousands.
I’m still in a state of shock.
I really don’t want to force my 63 year old father to start working a 3rd job, but I see no other option at this point.
