For over 150 years, Iowa leaders of both parties were so proud to invest in our public education system. It worked so well we put it on our quarter.
Today’s new idea: defund it by giving money instead to private entities that don’t have to follow the same rules.

Starting July 16th, you can use 988 in a mental health crisis instead of dialing 1-800-273-8255. The 1-800 will be available for a while until people get used to the new 988 number. 💜💜💜#OS14 #youmatter

Hi 👋 I'm Iowa Sen Sarah Trone Garriott.
I got involved w/ @MomsDemand to keep kids safe. In '20 I defeated an A-rated NRA Republican & flipped a seat.
Now I'm up against the GOP Sen President, who's also backed by the NRA. Can you RT & follow to help us defeat extremism again?

Stopped by Walnut Creek Campus @WDMCS to drop off letters of congratulations for graduates. Toured the building and learned more about how they support at-risk students. Today especially I appreciate seeing so many caring adults working hard for our community’s young people.

I have no idea what school will look like in the Fall, but whether it’s in-person or online, it will NEED to include tons of SEL and healing-informed work to deal with staff, student, and family trauma. Compassion before curriculum. – at Chicago, IL

This pandemic has already revealed that:
- schools are so much more than just schools.
- many people now realize how tough it is to be a teacher and that teachers are grossly underpaid.
- teachers are irreplaceable and essential to learning and education.
